Trolls R Us Resurrections

Thank you! I was genuinely worried I was being paranoid, jumping to conclusions or something like that.

Eh, I think you’re being paranoid. It was a poorly phrased question, and I think he was probably trying to figure out in real time what question he’s asking. But I don’t think he’s trying to figure out how to possess child porn.

But Atamasama is right, it does need care that it doesn’t stray into dangerous territory.

Yeah, I was allowing for that possibility. I think it comes across as pervy because it was so poorly done, which is why someone who wants to bring up a subject like that needs to be more careful.

Anybody remember Cesario? [may not have gotten the spelling exactly right, can’t find said handle + variations on a search]

Yes I do. He was open and honest on how he thought the laws were unjust and needed to be changed so men could have sex with underage boys.

ETA

FWIW, he joined in August 2009 and last posted in February 2010. So he barely made it past 6 months and hasn’t been around for more than 15 years.

Heck, it has been so long that someone born the day he last posted might not even be attractive to him anymore. (Yeah, I went there.)

And it looks like he’s banned since his user page says “suspended”. When Ed Zotti says “we have to talk”, you’re probably not going to be on the board anymore.

(I believe this thread was his swan song.)

If he’s really asking how e.g. Google trains AIs, (or humans) to recognize prohibited material, the answer is almost certainly that they get permission from the authorities to do that, making darn sure any humans exposed to the stuff can’t take it home with them.

The bit about the stuff being in the hands of a single researcher working on their own stinks like the typical made-up-on-the-spot alibi of a random robber caught with someone else’s wallet and driver’s license in their pocket. Um, er, honest Officer, I have no idea how that got there. Suuuuure you don’t.

Not touching that one with a 10 foot pole, a borrowed laptop, and a VPN.

More accurately, they do it in other countries where they don’t have to worry about permission or laws.

Could you explain why you believe that, and what other countries you believe they might be doing this in (countries which, I presume you are implying, do not have laws against possession of child pornography)?

Here’s a handy map to help you with your answer. (The map is five years old, so some countries might have changed their laws, or for those that had no info available, info might now be available.)

yeah, I’m pretty sure he did actually get himself banned eventually. Just not at the point when I wrote that.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Banny’s Banning Test Thread

Wait - we had a troll named “Banny”?

They’ll be back.

The mods have a dedicated account they use for testing troll-managenent functions.

So it’s for people who keep getting thrown off the list.

B-B-B-Banny and ejects…

It’s worse than that. His name is BannyMcBanface. With a name like that you just know he’s trouble.

(He’s actually an account used for testing and mod training)

It figures that a mod’s sock has been the most troublesome account.

My fault guys. I was doing practice work later in the night so as not to disrupt too many posters, including learning how to move posts around. And I mostly tried to play it straight, so it was a post about being a troll in the pit, and well, this is THE thread about being a troll in the Pit, no?

So I moved it in and out, and probably should have left a note about it. Thanks to @Chronos for stepping up on that.

Real trolls try to be more clever and jumble the letters that spell “cornfield”.

Scrabble aids can help with that.
