Well, I figured you were joking. PCM’s vote comes from me posting a lot and crying “lynch the lurker” too early. Dead Cat voted on me because… I don’t really know. Dead Cat, why exactly are you voting to lynch me?
Do I get points for catching Johnny’s first fuck-up? I’ve still got a vote lingering on WF Tomba (post 45). Having noted that…
UNOVTE WF TOMBA
VOTE DEAD CAT
This is a “gut feeling” based vote. DC is coming off as unnecessarily combative, which is a potential scum tell. I don’t know if it’s the fact that I played the last game with Prof. P and get the references he’s making, but his comments weren’t scummy. They’re self-referential and meta, akin to the cheese joke running gags, but they weren’t initially scummy. It may be “good vibes” carryover from last game, but I’m siding with Prof P in this dispute for now. I’ll reread the conversation again tomorrow again and see if I still feel that way. One factor in DC’s favor is that it’s a poor scum gambit to be unnecessarily combative with a verbose and friendly poster when you’re the newcomer. “Good vibes” and history are likely to carry over to the new guy. I’ll be considering this and trying to put away “good vibes” the next time I reread.
…and that’s from the guy I voted to lynch, wrongly.
There is something off-putting about this post from Biotop. I dunno, it just rubs me the wrong way, I guess. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to look at people’s playstyles from recent games at all and what happened in previous games is not always story-related. It’s game-related.
The cranky thing at the end bothers me even more. It sounds like an attempt to justify the post. I don’t think it is OOG at all.
Bah, I’m voting.
Vote Biotop
True, but you were verbose and provided useful information for scum hunting (far more than me). And I clearly understand that you’re referencing WF Tomba’s post correctly identifying the three scum far ahead of any of the rest of us, which it seems to be what you’re referencing in your “mason” post that kickstarted this whole kerfuffle.
Yeah, I got carried away. The first game I played there were three of us basically confirmed Town (Me, Biotop, Cygnus). The next game due to claims, there were three of us confirmed town (me, Mahaloth and Tomba). I was hoping to continue that run.
I disagree with TexCat here. My felling is that if I’ve noticed something, then the Scum have probably noticed it too, since they have multiple minds working together…so the best thing is to bring it out in the open so that the town knows it as well.

OK, Astral, why is my vote a poor vote. A few others have voted for Tomba for the same reason and yet you said nothing ill of theirs, except for to say that you would not vote for Tomba yourself.
As others have pointed out, Dante is defending himself against an accusation that Astral didn’t make here…because Dante hadn’t in fact made a vote at this point (and still hasn’t, by the way).
I’m really not sure what it indicates when a person doesn’t realize he hasn’t placed a vote; it could mean that he’s been having discussions somewhere other than this thread bout who he should vote for…but since the Scum can’t talk during the Day in this game, those discussions (if they were taking place) wouldn’t point to him being Scum in this game.
Unvote Dante G
Vote snfaulkner
for all of the cheese references. Really. Not so much because they were cheese references, but because he went rather overboard with them…as if he was really trying to make sure we knew that he was ‘just joking’, so we wouldn’t give his statements too much scrutiny.

SP must play by phone, because I always have to remember to correct “lunching” too!
I generally try to avoid it, for reasons just like that, but I was indeed posting from my phone Saturday morning.
To Sub. Plankton - You are right I did not post a vote. I had cast suspicion on Tomba back on post #52, but I neglected to actually vote. That was my mistake.
As more posts have come along, however, I have a few other ideas to toss out there. Biotops post rant about voting based off of past play styles does not read as Scummy to me. The fact that Mahaloth has all sorts of suspicions regarding it and is in turn voting for Biotop, leads me to see Mahaloth as Scum pretending to jump at a player whoM he “believes” to have Scum’s best interest.
VOTE MAHALOTH

I don’t think “my bad” really explains your post. A) you never posted a vote, and B) you were defensive of that non-vote in C) a post in which I wasn’t talking about you.
I’m very curious how this mistake was made,

Unless I missed something, it’s Precambrianmollusc going overboard with the cheese puns, probably followed by me. snfaulkner is voting for Precam, though.
Earlier, I posted a few things I learned from observing Mafia on SDMB, and I want to toss this note out there. It’s based on my Avalon experience.
In Avalon, if the scum identify a specific good guy (Merlin) results in a scum win even if Arthur’s team outperformed scum.
With this in mind, the best thing vanilla town can do during night is die instead of a town power role. This is another reason speaking up is good. If you look town and put good ideas out, you could get killed instead of a town power role. It’s a badge of honor and the best thing for town (other than an avoided kill).

Thing is, many posters might be quiet on Day 1 just because there’s not much to add to the conversation. There’s only so much you can analyze when nothing’s happened yet. Well, that and making cheese puns.
I don’t know, I think stuff has happened. What are your thoughts on any of the people currently receiving votes? Where might your vote end up? You seem to be ‘here,’ but you sure don’t seem like you want to weigh in.

Dammit, I think I just shot myself in the foot here. I’ve looked back on the threads involving me and Sub. and Astral and I apologize, I was mixed up.
Astral, you were totally correct. You were not coming at me in anyway in posts 81 and 82. When I read them, I got mixed up and took it mean that my vote for Tomba,* which as it turns out I never made*, was a bad vote. When in actuality, you were saying The Sub. Plankton’s vote for* me* was a bad one. I have been on the defensive ever since for something that I totally misinterpreted.
I apologize. I will make no excuses as to why I read it wrong, because I know excuses don’t go too far in these types of situations. Suffice it to say, I am sorry and my vote for Mahaloth still stands. That much I am sure of.

I was referring to posts 96-98 specifically, where sfaulnker spends the majority of his contribution for the Day listing the people who have made cheese jokes.

So, Prof…you’ve done quite a bit of talking, and a fair amount of analysis…do you think you might be placing a vote of your own any time soon?

Astral, you were totally correct.
Ooh, a new signature!
On reflection, leaning town for this mistake, so it ended up being a net positive for you. Besides, I missed snfaulkner’s clear reference when voting for him, so I know how hard reading comprehension can be!

I see that, thanks for the pointer. I don’t see myself voting for him on the same basis though.
