Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the extra blank line after my signature?
I know that it kind of rides up on a short post.
But what makes it higher on my last post on this thread than the first one?

I don’t see an extra blank line after your signature. (polishing glasses) Nope. Not there.
I think what you’re referring to is how the system sets off signature lines from body text. Can’t do anything about that.

No matter how short a post is, the stuff on the left is still there, causing blank space at the end of short posts.
And it’s not what the other poster’s said.
His second post shows a sig line right at the end of the box.
Exactly lined up with “Posts: 40”
But the message just before UncleBeer misinterprets him has the motto floating a couple of lines above the “Profile Mail Search…” line.

The one starting **OncleBiere - ** rides up at the bottom.
No, it’s not important, just struck me as surprising.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
If you must tell someone, tell vbulletin. They do the coding around here. And they may have a rationale for it.
