What's up with the (sometimes) extra line under the sigs?

OK, I probably just need to up the medication today, but this is getting on my nerves.

When you include your sig in a post, sometimes there is an extra line underneath it, and sometimes there isn’t.

Like in this thread.

You’ll notice that Show_biz has 4 posts within the first 10 or so, and that in 2 of them, his/her sigline is flush with the bottom of the allotted space, and in 2 of them, there is an extra line!

::Fighting off OCD attack::

Why is this? Can you make it stop? I HATE THE EXTRA LINE!!

OK, OK…I’m going home now. I fully expect that that when I check this thread in the morning that I will have had a new orifice ripped into me in my absence. G’Night! :)[/sub]

It’s not your medication. It’s been reported a few times before.
One is here, and I recall another on a test thread.

**Trouble with signature blank lines **

No answer, though. Probably some boundry condition on the wordwrap for an individual string. (That’s what I tell clients about all anomolies, and it’s sometimes probably true.)

Has it occurred that perhaps Show_Biz and others like him (Satan, for one) is a poster who types (or cuts and pastes) their sig every time. Show_Biz has a smilie in his, I know this isn’t possible. So perhaps by typing the sig and adding spaces is the way to do it.

Like this.

Okay, That was normal.

Like this.

All I forgot was how many spaces to make the underscore. Or overscore.

You’re wrong on three counts.

1- you can put smilies in your sig. Hundreds do.
2- Show_Biz doesn’t has a regular sig. Go to one of his posts and puch “Reply With Quote”. The sig is not in the reply box because it wasn’t typed as part of the post.
3- If a thing is reported by several people as a bug, it’s not going to be because they all forgot they had typos making their “fixed” sigs.

2- Show_Biz has a regular sig. Go to one of his posts and puch “Reply With Quote”. The sig is not in the reply box because it wasn’t typed as part of the post.

…what’s the fuss?

…But I seem to have the extra line there.

Referrring to the OP - what browser and OS are you using?

I have Netscape Communicator 4.7 on MacOS. I don’t notice any extra lines under ShowBiz’s signature in any of the first five or six posts by ShowBiz in the thread to which the OP has a link.

Interesting, AW.

On WinNT, I get the extra line with IE4.01 but not with NS4.7
