Talbot speaks the language of the dead now.
Sookie can not quit Bill yet, but he is on the wrong side of the powerful vampires.
I don’t see how Eric can survive killing Talbot, unless he is a lot more powerful than we think. He just declared war.
Everybody is besieged at the same time. Sookie has Russel and all the werewolves after her. Her brother has a pack after him.
Tara wiill have Franklyn coming back after her. I don’t think he is dead.
Talbot complaining about not being able to get his sheets out of the linens had me wondering.
Of course Bill/Sookie/Eric (and perhaps LaFayette since they’re working on something there) have The Authority on their side as well. Killing the Magister I think more than cancels out adding Louisiana to his kingdom, especially since (no idea if it matters) the marriage isn’t valid anyway.
I thought Bill helping Jessica practicing her fighting was pretty damned cute. In fact, Jessica was just plain awesome throughout this episode.
Franklin might still be alive, but in the books they do mention that a vampire doesn’t have to be staked, burned by the sun or have their head chopped off to die. Sustaining a great enough damage bodily can cause them not to be able to regenerate.
I really wish they’d have found someone better (and by better I mean cuter) to play Tommy. That guy skeeves me.
Also, the entire Hotshot area is my idea of hell on earth.
My wife is ticked off because they’ve changed Hotshot and Calvin Norris quite a bit.
In the books Hotshot is insular because the community wants privacy due to their nature, not because they’re all drug-dealing rednecks.
In the books, Calvin Norris comes off as an honorable guy doing his best in a sticky situation. So far as we’ve seen on the show he’s a meth-dealing asshole.
Otherwise, I liked the episode and am really looking forward to the Eric/Russell confrontation.
The books are so different from the series, they’re just taking the names of characters and creating whole new personalities for the show.
I am so weary of Jason, his undershirt, his stupid storyline, and most of all of his white trash flame of the moment. What on earth makes this Crystal SO special? Boring, both of them. Still, I suppose the storyline with the vamps has to be counter-balanced with some storyline based in real life.
It’s too bad Talbot is gone so soon. I would have loved to see him, Russell, and Russell’s new wife adjusting to her moving in. An opportunity for a whole lot of jealousy, resentment, battles for the upper hand, and plain old hissy fits - all that entertaining stuff, gone!
Didn’t Russel declare war by killing the Magister?
The current thinking in the few posts I glanced on the HBO website is that Eric killed Talbot knowing it would get Russel’s attention and he wouldn’t kill Sookie, or at least give her a fighting chance.
Maybe he can breath under water :p.
I get the feeling we’re going to find out his mom isn’t actually crazy.
I don’t think he wanted to kill Sookie. Instead, I think he (or Sophie-Anne) would want to keep her alive but imprisoned, so that they can harvest her blood.
I wonder, though, whether the “light” that they want from her blood is continually replenished, or if it’s finite.
I guess we could be more general and say that Eric’s killing of Talbot may have been to protect Sookie from Russel.
I’m not sure about the light. I thought it had something to do with her mood or her ‘energy’ When she first did it to Maryanne, she was incredibly worked up and it almost seemed instinctual to put her hand up to MaryAnne’s face (even though she’d have no reason to do it) but later when she had calmed down she couldn’t do it again. It reminded me of Isabel on The Office hitting Angela in the face and saying ‘whack.’
She doesn’t have control of it. Every time it’s happened, it’s been involuntary. The show has not yet told us what circumstances cause it. When it’s happned before, it’s been during moments of extreme duress in life threatening situations, but she’s also been under duress when it didn’t happen, so who knows?
Why would people think that? Eric says pretty clearly why he killed Talbot. I don’t think Sookie entered his mind, except insofar as “Great, while he’s trying to kidnap Sookie, I can kill Talbot dead.”
This - I’m more confused what he’s going to tell the Guards “ooppss, I slipped” ? and will Russel already ‘know’ that Eric killed Talbot, or what? Will Eric be able to play this off as an attack from outsiders? doubtful, but it feels oawful early for that showdown, what would be next? I still want to see the Othorities -
Also, Alfre Woodard is so awesome. I wonder if they know how lucky they are to have scenes with her. She’s so effortless. I hope she sticks around for a bit.
Eric can handle the guards. Even Bill was able to stake one of them.
I think the writers are setting up a cliff hanger for the Season Finale, and I doubt we’ll get resolution of the Eric/Russel situation until the last episode this season, or the first episode next.
She is great. As for her character (who is not in the books), I think it would be interesting if she’s both legitimately schizophrenic and clairvoyant: some things she sees are delusional and some things are real.
The title of the episode is from a song by Modest Mouse. When Jason pays a visit to Crystal’s fiancee, a blues-grass version of the song can be heard on the radio. Love that band and loving this season of TB so far.
