So… am I the only one who is consumed with curiosity about Bill not turning into a Frito when the sun hit him in the last episode? And wondering why he was basically green in this one?
I didn’t notice the green. His not being barbecued has to do with having glutted on Sookie’s ‘not 100% human’ blood (at least that’s the implication).
I’m wondering is if Sookie and Jason are only half brother & sister since he doesn’t seem to have any of the abilities she has (telepathy, whatever the glowing-hand thing is, resistance to being bug-eyed by Mary Ann being the three big ones). I wonder if he can be glamoured.
Pam glamoured him in the first season when he went to Fangtasia to get some V. She asked him why he was there and he gave some BS about wanting to see what it was about. She then glamoured him and asked him why he was really there and he told her he wanted some V.
I know this makes me seem like one of those obsessive fans, but I have been rewatching all of the episodes with a friend so it’s fresh for me
As far as I could tell, when Eric saw Russell talking to Talbot in the foyer, he finally discovered what he should do to hurt Russell the most. So as soon as the opportunity arose* he took his revenge. Though helping Sookie was probably a secondary motivation - he was clearly willing to endanger his plan to warn her.
But why did he say, “Don’t trust Bill?” (cue ominous musical sting)
I think Jesus practices voodoo, and in this universe it actually works.
As for the changes to Calvin Norris, I view it as a trade off. Maybe the writers have removed some good features of the story, but they also did away with the whole plot of Bill being so valuable because he . . . (unbelievably dull spoiler for the book)compiled a database! Exciting!
It seems like all the people with “T” names were getting a raw deal in this ep: Tara, Talbot, Terry. I think IRL even someone generally against abortion would go get one after that dream Arlene had, but we all know she’ll have the baby and Terry will get wounded in some awful way. And of course, not only does Tara have severe PTSD, Franklin will no doubt be popping up again before the season is over.
*for the life of me I can’t think of a verb that doesn’t sound dirty: presented itself? opened up?
He just has a different characteristic common to the type of thing Sookie’s family has in their bloodline.
So, does Holly look way different than what other people were picturing too? I thought she was supposed to be dark-haired and pretty, and Sookie’s age. But I suppose I could be thinking of the other waitress.
LaFayette’s mom made me think of something that’s never been addressed on the show or in the books: Do you think that people discovering that things like vampires and then werewolves being real would have any affect on people in mental hospitals? Clearly Mom believes in those things, and people thought she was crazy for it. Would there end up being some cases where they re-evaluate the “crazy” people, and say “whoops, looks like you were right. I guess you can go now”?
Crystal Methodist, are all the episode titles song titles? I noticed that “9 Crimes” (Damien Rice) was, and “Strange Love” (Depeche Mode) definitely is as well as the upcoming “Fresh Blood” being named after a new Eels song, but I’m not sure about the rest.
There could be some other reasons. Jason may not have been in a situation where he needed to summon the shiny hand thing and he might not be smart enough to read other peoples minds or resist the bug eyed Maryann. Also, it might not hit every member of a family. Didn’t Sookie say that someone else in her family was a telepath? Her grandpa maybe? Or her great grandma?
Jason is even the spitting image of one of their fairy relatives - he has just as much fairy in him as Sookie, it just manifests differently. Book Sookie is NOT telepathic due to the fairy blood either, that’s entirely unexplained. Gran had an affair with a fairy because her husband could not have kids. The TV show having Earl Stackhouse (Gran’s husband) be telepathic is not in the books either
Hard Hearted Hannah (The Vamp of Savannah GA- sung here by Ella Fitzgerald) was an episode in Season 2- it’s a 1920s song that Bill sang at the piano in a flashback to his Lorena days.
The ear and nose bleeding happens when the vampires force themselves to stay awake past dawn. They’ve been doing it a lot this season, I notice. I really don’t like it, because it’s supposed to be this incredibly difficult thing that can only be done with massive effort, and instead they’re showing vamps wandering around basically normally during the daytime, with just a little blood trickling out of the nose and ears.
I think in this ep it makes sense - Eric is clearly incredibly driven to get revenge, to the point of kneeling before the king and insulting Godric, which would have been excruciating for him. But the scene an ep or two ago where they interrogated Sophie Ann during the day was dumb, agreed.
As for the barrage of homosexuality, I find it refreshing that they are showing a cute, awkward, engaging flirtation and romance just the way TV and films often do, only it’s two guys. Has anyone really done that before - to the point of showing the same amount of physical affection as they would with a hetero coupe?
