True Blood: "Evil Is Going On"

Season 3 finale tonight. Everyone got their fangs sharpened?

Overall, I thought this season was pretty good. It got off to a difficult start with all the new characters and such, but it’s coming together pretty nicely at the end.

I suspect Season 4 will get heavily into the fairy aspect of things. And I refuse to spell “fairy” the other way.

Just when you are getting good guys and bad guys sorted out, they scramble everything. What kind of guy is Bill? How about Eric? Sookie is alone now.

And Witches. Jesus is hardly a throw away character at this point. Are witches good guys or bad guys? Jesus appears to be a good guy, but if witches and fairies are both good guys Bon Temps must be expecting one hell of a bad guy next season.

Also, I think it’s safe to assume that Arlene’s kid will be evil, we’ll need something or someone to counter that with.

Nanny McFee?

If Eric was able to climb his way out of that wet concrete, perhaps Russell did as well. He’s far too good of a villain to lose now.

Yeah, but Russel had a lot more silver on him than Eric did.

So, Sookie is off to Fairy Fairy on an E ticket. Can’t say this was a particularly good season finale.

It seemed to me that they hinted that Pam helped him out of the concrete.

I thought this season was by far the worst and it turned me off from the show. I won’t be watching the next season. Maybe on Netflix down the line.

Eric did not climb out, Pam came and got him.

I’m glad they did not kill Russell, great character.

So Eric suspected that he would end up in the concrete and preplanned that Pam should swing by and check on him?

Who was it that was sent to kill Pam since it evidently wasn’t Alcide?

Pam feels Eric’s emotions because he’s her maker. The assassin was someone called Ruben who I’m not familiar with.

It didn’t really seem like a season finale. For one thing nobody wound up dead in the parking lot of Merlottes.

Anyone wonder why Sam was chasing his brother with a gun instead of just turning into a bull or a wildebeest (I wonder if he can do unicorns or other relatively simple mythological creatures) and running him to ground? It reminded me of the Bugs Bunny episode where Daffy gets thrown from a cliff and Bugs asks “I wonder if that silly duck remembers he can fly… [kerplunk]… nope, guess not.”

I thought it only worked the other way around.

Either way, I think he can “call” her to him.

I guess someone told Sophie-Ann that Russell was gone, she asked Bill how she looked in her widow’s outfit.

Not loving the Jesus/Lafayette story line either. Lafayette has presumably done V before, so all of a sudden he does it with Jesus and he gets this reaction? Not buying for one hot second that Jesus isn’t evil disguised as a hottie. Waitress witch is going to have to take him out.

Yeah, the connection should go both ways. Eric can get a sense of what Pam feels, locate her, and vice versa.

Of course, the fact that Eric escaped so easily just makes it more unlikely that Russel will be gone for very long. Also makes you wonder why Bill didn’t press his advantage and stake Eric.

I did appreciate the way that Eric completely spurned ghost-Godric’s advice and tried to punish Russel even more than death would.

I feel like they’ve made silver too powerful a vampire stopper. I think they could have spun Bill’s complete helplessness under tiny silver chains in S1E1 as being part of his plan to scam Sookie. Instead you have a situation where a silver cuff around one wrist renders a vampire completely helpless.

So Sam kills again over money.
Nice touch running Talbots remains down the garbage disposal. That eliminates Russell revitalizing him with Sookies blood.

Gotta love the Hot Shot crowd. Did that one guy say “uncle daddy”? Priceless!

I would assume it is because he can’t carry the gun if he changes.

So is Tara leaving Bon Temps forever? She should!

I wonder what is going to happen with the Jason story line, I am getting the idea that they are trying to set him up as some sort of MLK/messiah character to unite humans and supernaturals. Far-fetched, I know, but that is the vibe I am getting.

I’m sure either, or both, Book Pam and TV Pam, were talking to Sookie when she (Pam) became distracted and started vibrating. Explained that ‘Eric is calling me, gotta run’ - and disappears in a flash.

This didn’t feel like a finale at all, just a bunch of plot lines being put out for next season. (A year. A whole year!!!) The only things I really liked were Tara’s new hairdo, and the Queen’s ‘widow’ dress. Otherwise, meh. Russell be be out of that cement before you can say exsanguination, Hoyt and Jessica will have big trouble from Hoyt’s momma, and for the love of god, can we please drop Jason’s boring storyline???

I believe the term is “Satan in a Sunday hat.”

I love the notion of Jason as MLK. “I have a dream… and I’m at grandma’s house in it but it’s not really my grandma’s house cause there’s a Starbucks and an escalator, and then Al Gore walks in butt nekkid and tells me we’re going duck huntin’ but I can’t talk to him cause my teeth are fallin’ out… oh, and love each other and tolerance and peace and stuff.”

We don’t know that–all we saw was Sam shooting in his brother’s direction, not where the bullet landed. He could have aimed just close enough to put a scare into the kid, he could have aimed to make contact and missed because Tommy shifted, he could have shot to injure rather than kill. We just don’t know. And I really don’t believe that Sam would deliberately shoot to kill Tommy. At least, not today. The way he was the night before, drunk and mean and half-crazy, maybe so. But not when he’s at himself enough to be making apologies for his previous behavior.

I love Pam, always have. She’s one of my very favorite characters in the books, and I’m glad the show hasn’t monkeyed with her like they have so many others. “I have no patience with that sort of thing.” I love it.

I also kind of love that, even having read the first 8 books, I have not the first damn clue where they’re going from here. There are so many things that are significantly altered from the books or just created out of whole cloth, that I can’t even begin to guess what’s going to happen next season. It sucks that they’re making Hotshot such a hellhole and they first turned Calvin into a scumbag and then killed him, but you gotta take the good with the bad.
