True Blood 6/21: "Keep This Party Going" (OPEN SPOILERS)

One more question. I am almost certain this was addressed early on in the first season but can Sookie get glamored? Obviously Jessica isn’t capable of that yet but have any of the other vampires tried?

My memory might be faulty, but I think Bill tried and it didn’t work. I don’t remember anyone else trying.

Yes, Bill tried it and Sookie pretended that it worked, but it didn’t.

Also, the three other vampires who we first meet at Bill’s house (tattooed bald vamp, etc) try to glamor her and she just shrugs it off. Much to their surprise.

Last season, the vampires who lived in the vampire group home that eventually burned to the ground tried to glamour Sookie at the door when she arrived looking for Bill. I remember her saying, “Are you trying to glamour me? 'Cause it won’t work.” The vampires looked stunned and almost embarrassed…kind of like, “Aw, crap, she’s on to us.”

That was the first episode I watched–I was totally confused what “glamouring” was and by most of what was going on.

A friend of mine is a hired extra, and she’s done several of these episodes–including this last one. I’ll spoiler box this, though I don’t know it’s that much of a spoiler…

She told me that the dancing in the bar gets nekkid next week. She–a pretty normal looking 50+ year old–is not among the naked, heh. So, Maryanne gets her lusty fix, apparently.

We’ve been out of town so I’m getting to this party late. Just caught the first two episodes last night.

This season definitely deviates even more from the books. Seems Ball took some general ideas from book 2 “Living Dead in Dallas” but that is about all. S1 followed the book rather closely but S2 has deviated so much so, that it’s like watching the same characters do different stuff. Since I had read about this earlier before S2 started, I’m not surprised and not really bothered by it. I still prefer the books.

As for Marianne while her origin appears to be what Sampiro stated above, her personality seems like an amalgamation of three different supes (including the one Sampiro stated) in the books. Only time will tell if Ball has done this or whether he introduces the other supes.

By far the worst thing they’ve done this season is to shave Bill’s chest. WTF? Now the sex scenes just bore me and I think about poor ole Sookie getting “porcupined by the chest of stubble.” Ball must be a fan of the smooth twinks to have done this.

Is she the bar drunk who was trying to pick up Eggs this past week?

Naw, she wasn’t as fortunate as to have a featured extra role (speaking part). She blends in with the crowd; I never was able to find her in this one, though I did see her hubby (also working as an extra that day) get his hair tousled by a tall blond woman on the dance floor. IIRC, he’s a Doper, too…don’t remember his s/n. Maybe he’ll poke his head in and say Howdy. :::looks around:::

I did see my friend quite clearly in Fangtasia last year–she was at a pinball game looking wildly out of place (she was supposed to look touristy–who goes to Fangtasia as a tourist??). When I saw the episode–first I’ve ever seen of the show–I laughed my butt off at what the OTHER extras looked like (pasties, thongs, etc.). She told me a lot of people were dressed “wildly,” but I had no idea just what “wildly” meant. Heh heh.

I don’t think they would save him from the cliffhanger and then kill him in the next episode. I doubt he could survive three vampires feeding so voraciously, so I’m guessing they’ll vamp him.

The preacher’s wife. There was an awful lot of ho-yay between him and Luke though. Until Luke got jealous of his popularity and standing. There was also a lot of ho-yay between Bill and Eric this episode. And Lafeyette and Eric.

Jessica is actually growing on me this season. Sookie seems to have a somewhat calming affect on her.

Yes! I loved that they had him actually enact this after teasing us with his description earlier. And the description was fairly apt.

Did she? Then she played me too lol. I think she was just being impulsive. Time will tell.

I’m wondering

So far she seems less of a monster than the novel. Why did she kill Lafeyette in the novels? I’m assuming she killed the hoodoo woman in the car, but why? And what are her plans for Tara and Eggs? Why is she meddling with things at the bar?

That cracked me up and was very well done lol.

I’m liking things so far except for the cop whining about being taken off a case for which he has an obvious conflict of interest. And Eric seems both a little overzealous with his beating Bill over the head with his authority, and also a lot more casually violent and sadistic than I originally imagined him.

“Howdy!”

I liked this episode. I can’t stand Bill and Sookie, I love the supporting cast though.

I can’t wait to see what happens to Lafayette.

Howdy!

So how are the people on the set? Did you get to meet any of the cast? Any of them really nice or nasty?

msmith537 wins!

I worked as background. Background people are barely considered human. I consider myself lucky just to have been fed, but only after the cast & crew have finished demolishing the spread. We have very strict orders NOT to interact with anyone on the set, save the Assistant Director (AD) who has been assigned to be our “handler”. To violate this rule is risking being fired from the production with no pay, such as it is.

Nice or nasty? Hard to say when you don’t merit their notice.

Now, don’t get the idea that I’m being down on the way we’re treated. That’s just the rules of the game, and my eyes were already wide open when I went in. Done this stuff enough already. And I’m certainly not star-struck. In general, actors (to which I’m aspiring to be) are a pretty ignorant lot as it is.

I liked this episode. Wasn’t the best episode ever but I thought it was pretty good. Lafayette is my favorite character so far.

I’m assuming Bill knew where Jessica was because he is the one that sired her, so he has a bond with her. Otherwise it doesn’t make any sense.

Either that or he sensed that Sookie was in trouble and found her that way.

That too. I forgot about Bill’s bond with Sookie.

They have a bond? I always assumed he was using his Super Vampire Hearing.

Also, someone needs to clock the fast vampire run with a radar gun or something. I’m curious to see how fast that actually is.

When she drank Bill’s blood in the first couple of episodes. He mentioned that they are now bonded and he’ll always be able to find her.

There’s a lot more about blood-bond in the books than in the show.

In the books Sookie and Eric develop a strong blood bond, stronger than Sookie and Bill’s, because they’ve exchanged blood more often, starting with Eric tricking her into helping he remove a bullet with her mouth
