"True Blood" character Marnie: What language are the spells in?

The new season of True Blood introduces the character of Marnie, a witch who has now twice managed to score a victory in confrontations with vampires.

Can anyone identify the language in which her spells are spoken? She starts off in English when she summons the Goddess, but then switches to what seems like a Romance language of some sort when speaking the injurious magic ritual. It’s definitely not French, Spanish or Italian, although it does sound a bit like the latter. It also sounds like some early medieval precursor to a modern Romance language, because whatever language she speaks doesn’t seem to have the simpler phonetic structure of most modern Romance. And I believe I hear some final consonants as well which have been worn away in the modern tongues.

I know at one point she intones:

Vedos! Vedos!

which the subtitles translate as Go! Go!

What language could this be? Romanian, perhaps?

Well, we know she’s a victim of the Spanish Inquisition. I’d guess she is Romani, then, because a lot of Roma were killed in that time period, weren’t they?

Not particularly, I don’t think. The Spanish government at the time passed some laws targeting the Cale and trying to force assimilation, but the Inquisition generally left them alone. The focus was mostly on Jews and Muslims.

Basque, perhaps?

I thought it sounded like Latin, but I was paying close attention.

Latin was my first guess, too. But I’m convinced I hear some palatization of some vowel sounds which are more characteristic of the daughter languages. I might have heard muerte, so perhaps it’s some medieval variety of Spanish.
