As far as I know she’s still alive, I don’t think we have any reason to think other wise. I don’t think Eric will have any problem going back to his old position. I think Sophie will understand. Also, don’t forget, Eric (if I understand correctly) wasn’t the sheriff of LA, he was the sheriff of his district. Sophie was top dog in LA (Queen, right?).
Eric is the Sheriff of “Area 5,” whatever that is. we know it includes Shreveport (where Fangtasia is located), but I don’t know what else it includes. I’ve sort of assumed it was basically Caddo Parish, but I guess we’ve no reason to believe that vampires use the same geographical divisions as humans (though they seem to do so for states).
I was wondering if Eric was still in charge of his area because he pulled rank on Bill in S2 to compel him to help Eric track down Godric. So I was curious if that dynamic is still in place despite Eric swearing his allegiance to Russel and Sophie’s disappearance (they specifically said Russel’s mansion was “empty as a tomb” so he’s either killed her or stashed her somewhere. I don’t think he would have let her go).
Nah, once they’re Jell-O I think they’re gone for good. What I thought was irritating was she asked Jason to get a shovel and start digging then she just scoots a bit of dirt over it with her foot.
I did wonder when Russel staked the hustler- if he gave him V and made him a vampire would he become one or does his staked heart prevent it (since that’s what will kill a vampire). Before he staked him I had thought he was going to make him Talbot 2.
I don’t think Russell knew anything about Sookie at all until Bill talked about her, and even then he’s mostly interested in her because of her ablity to read minds and zap people under stress.
I think the more interesting question is why Sophie Ann was so interested in Sookie. Obviously Sookie’s cousin Hadley told her about her, and I think she told her about the fairy blood too, not just the mind-reading, but
Why does Hadley know that Sookie is part fairy? She and Jason are too, of course. Do we supose that Aunt Linda knew about the fairy stuff even though her brother (Jason and Sookie’s dad) didn’t?
The only thing I can think of is that they’d have her having gone to Gram when Hunter showed himself to be a mind-reader, though that doesn’t entirely make sense since the books repeatedly said that mind reading isn’t a fairy power. Of course, considering they have Grandpa Stackhouse being a mind-reader too, they’re already ballsed that up since he’s not even a blood relative to Sookie or Hunter. Unless they’re going for it being an enviromental cause rather than genetic one.
And I now have a theory about Jesus and how he’ll tie into the plot for next season.
Book 4 spoilers
I guess he’ll be involved in the witches plot. It’s remotely possible that he’ll be on the good side like Holly, but I’m not going to trust him not to screw over Lafayette. If I’m right, it makes sense that both Jesus and Holly have shown up right around the same time
John Mace, bite your tongue. Don’t give the writers any ideas about doing more things with Bill and Sookie
OK, so they’ve said, IIRC, that Russell might be the oldest and most powerful Vampire in the entire world and he’s 5000 years old I think. How old was Godric? And why would the oldest Vampire in the world be just a King of Mississippi? How old is Sophie Ann? How old was the Magister and the AVL chick?
Seems like the Kings and Queens of the various states are always pretty much sociopaths. Sophie Ann and Russell are both totally unhinged in their own way and hedonistic and self destructive in pretty much every way. Is it an age thing? Godric was pretty levelheaded, I can’t recall his rank right now, but he became suicidal so his age too seemed to manifest itself poorly.
Eh, it was a fun episode but I kinda want a little more detail on the politics and and dynamics going on in the background.
I didn’t know that the Hot Shot people were Werepanthers, I assumed they were just shape-shifters like Sam. Little bit of a spoiler there, it’ll be interesting to see where the Werewolf/Werepanther dynamic takes things. If this were a big budget movie a huge Werewolf/Werecat battle would be pretty damn cool. They’ve been using real trained wolves for the werewolves so far but they obviously used a poorly CGIed panther for that chick, kinda bumped me a little.
Also, I cannot stand that actress they used for Crystal. I can’t understand why Jason would be interested, she’s gotta be the ugliest chick he’s banged by a country mile.
Also, does everyone that gets introduced have to be a supernatural? I figured Jesus and Lafayette would at least be plain old humans, but I guess not. Hell, even Andy Bellefleur might end up being something supernatural before it’s all said and done.
And since Sophie was the go-to girl for information on Maryanne, it makes sense for her to figure out that Sookie is a fairy.
But she clearly wants Sookie because of the legend that a faerie’s blood would allow her to walk in the sun. Except…Hadley wanted to find out specifically if her son could read minds, which fits well with the telepath we met in S2 who worked at the vampire hotel. So what I’m wondering is, do Hadley and Jason have the same sort of delightful blood that Sookie does? Or is like some sort of regressive trait that manifested itself in Sookie and the boy but not in other family members?
I know what you’re asking…but I don’t think we know whether or not Jason is a faerie yet. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was a faerie, but too dumb to realize it. We may see him figure that out soon and started training himself to use it. He seems like a vigilante, mind reading would be a powerful tool for a vigilante.
I thought it was such an assholish thing to do for Jason to tell Tara he shot Eggs. The only thing that is accoomplishing is making yourself feel better.
That’s on Sookie. He didn’t want to tell her. Sookie told him he had to tell her. For once, Jason listened to Sookie. And it was good advice – the truth will come out eventually, and better for Tara to hear it from him.
Typically for Jason, he doesn’t put any thought into how or when he’s going to tell her. Typically for Tara, she doesn’t stick around to hear an explanation.
I wonder how this will effect Andy. Now instead of just Jason being able to black mail him, Sookie and Tara can as well. No doubt Bill will eventually find out too (if he needs to).
I forgot to ask earlier - was anyone else distracted by Sookie’s eyebrows? It looks like they tried to remove them for some reason, and haven’t quite finished the job yet.
What would Tara want from Andy if she was to blackmail him? The only thing I can think of is that she might want him to resign as Sheriff, since it’s something he’s not really competent to do. I don’t know who could replace him, though, unless they bring the old Sheriff back. Maybe Kenya. She seems like the only one of the deputies who’s not an idiot.
I don’t know what Tara would want, but that’s not to say they won’t find something. Maybe she’ll never use it for anything. I can very much see Sookie holding it over his head though. [Stern Sookie Voice] “I swear to God Andy Belfleur, if you don’t go and ______ I WILL tell everyone that Jason shot Eggs and you covered it up”[/Stern Sookie Voice]
That’s the thing. As I remember, Jason killed Eggs because he was under Maryann’s spell and was wielding a weapon against Andy (although my memory may be faulty). I don’t think he had a choice. I thought that perhaps now that he’s come clean about it, though, it might help him get through it.
Don’t a lot of self defense laws extend to defending others from being killed as well, not just one’s self? Legally speaking, it could end up not being as big a deal as the characters are (quite realistically) making it out to be.
Yes, Jason’s actions were completely justified and he was legitimately defending Andy’s life, but I’m not sure Jason himself is really able to understand that, or that Tara will be willing to listen to it.
I don’t think Eggs was under the spell when he came at Andy. He had just found out what he had done while under the spell and was basically committing suicide by cop.
As far as self-defense. In Wisconsin if someone is being attacked and in a position that they can’t defend themselves, a third party can use reasonable force to protect the person being attacked. Basically, the same force you would use if you were being attacked. So shooting someone that’s about to stab someone would be okay. Shooting someone that’s about to pepper spray someone else…not so okay.
