Yes, I’m aware she’s a shifter, what with the whole turning into a deer thing and all. But it seemed shorter and easier than referring to her as “that shifter waitress with the big minotaur-esque scars all over her back.”
Ruffian, I’m not sure Sam has seen them. We’ve seen them plenty, but all the shots I can think of when they’ve shown those scars, she’s been facing Sam.
The only scene that woke me out of a light snooze last night was the one with Eric and Godric ! Holy Moly! THAT was interesting! Godric must be some real badass to be so ‘young’ yet 2000 years later, so powerful! He was a Celt or a Pict living somewhere up the Danube when he met up with Viking Eric , judging by the tribal tattooes. I can’t wait to see modern-day Godric. And as for preacher/hot pants wife, I thought they were just working as a team on dumb-as-dirt Jason to get him to head up their Army. Her breathless flirting with Jason always struck me as over the top phony, notice she technically did not commit adultery with him.
Ok, sorry if this has been asked in a previous thread, but what the hell is the deal with the picture of Gran and young Sookie & Tara? I mean, it’s either one of the worst photoshops of all time, or it was done intentionally bad for comedic effect. It’s like something you’d see in Scary Movie… Is this show supposed to be a comedy and I’m just now finding out?
This was my impression as well. It has seemed more intentionally manipulative to get the dumb-jock to do their bidding.
That said, the character/actress just drips sex, sex, sex all over the place. The bathtub and bedroom (in the white satin nighty) scenes had me feeling warm all over!
A-GREED! THE worst! I mean, that actress couldn’t have found a pic of herself when she was younger and have somebody photoshop her face into that picture? They do it in movies all the time!
My first thought was maybe the pig was Eggs. As in…Ham n’ Eggs. Har har! Oh, that’d be so clever of them. :::wipes tear:::
Thanks to several Dopers who’ve read the books and shared in previous threads, I’m pretty sure I know what Maryann is. Now, what her deal is beyond causing mischief and getting off on it… <Vizzini>I’m WAITING!</Vizzini>
CrazyCatLady, I got the impression that Sam saw the claw mark scars quite clearly when she got out of the lake after their shape-shifting-skinny-dip. I seem to recall (perhaps falsely) that Sam even had a nonverbal, but noticeable, reaction to seeing them. I took that to suggest Sam realized whatshername was somehow associated with Maryann and he’d know, as we do, something is Not Good Here. Obviously, that’s not the case.
That was my impression as well, and seeing as how Sam was scared as hell of MaryAnn, it’s puzzling that he would fool around with the waitress if he knew she was connected to MaryAnn. It makes me wonder just how much Sam does know about MaryAnn.
Oh, and it was fun seeing the actor who played Nathan Stark on Eureka as one of the Texas vampires.
Even if Sam didn’t see the claw marks, he should have felt them when they were cuddling. Maybe he’s just too much of a gentleman to remark on them.
Didn’t the woman who healed Sookie say that the claw marks made some kind of connection between the minotaur and the clawed person? Like “It will always be able to find you” – something like that. Because I keep waiting for the minotaur to show up when Sam and Daphne are together. Maybe that’ll be part of the finale, Sam fighting the minotaur.
Are we agreed that MaryAnn shapeshifted to the minotaur and attacked Sookie? Or is the minotaur another critter entirely and MaryAnn just calls it up?
When Sam first encountered MaryAnn - he ran away scared as hell - he was still a teenager at that time (16ish?) - he has no clue what Maryann is or can do - only that she had powers (and apparently vibrates in bed) - He’s basically scared shitless.
His only thought right now - is to avoid her at all costs - but he’s mostly protecting his secret more than anything else at this point - he’s still a scared teenager when she’s around.
I’m confused. When did we, the Dopers, decide that the critter in question is for sure a minotaur and what happened to the maenad? Did I miss a memo or something?
During the big orgy, we saw her hands transform into the minotaur hands, so I think that’s fairly definitive.
Dogzilla, I think we’re just calling it “minotaur” because it’s a biped with a bull’s head, not necessarily bringing in the myth of Theseus or anthing.
Another “hell yeah” here about that picture. It is the most godawful photoshop ever, which is particularly sad in the middle of an effects-heavy show that’s normally pretty good.
I’ve gotten the sense over the last couple of episodes that they’re pulling stuff from books 2 and 3 for this season, and the final scene in this episode clinches it. Bad things are going to happen to Bill soon. Good.
Hey, can someone who has read the first few books help me remember something? Who was the human who goes with Sookie to the Fellowship of The Sun since the vampires can’t? I know it wasn’t Alcide, but we might meet him sooner than later if I’m correct about book 3 being part of this season too.
I’m curious how everyone feels about the portryal of the church.
Obviously they’re supposed to represent hate groups of the past - similar in a lot of ways to the KKK or current religious-based gaybashers.
But we’re not talking about a harmless, oppressed group. We’re talking about a group of people with supernatural powers who have, until very recently killed humans to live.
The only good one we’ve seen so far for sure is Bill - he’s renounced killing humans now that he doesn’t have to. The rest of the ones we’ve seen seem to be willing to kill without a second thought. Vampires are absolutely a clear and present threat to humans.
So it doesn’t ring true that we’re supposed to think of the evil religious zealots trying to oppress the poor minority of vampires - more people should be very concerned about them.
