True Detective: Season Two .How is it

It’s funny, I feel like I’ve followed the plot pretty well watching the show, but this is a leap I didn’t make. Even if it were clear from the picture that it’s really Laura, I don’t see how they made that cognitive jump.

More or less. Frank never owned that land; instead, he colluded with the land’s owners to pollute the land with his company’s waste (lowering its value), in return for getting to buy some of it at a low price, in anticipation of the rail deal jacking up the price. Make sense?

Thanks for that, hajario! Each week I throw up my hands in exasperation and the next I find myself watching the thing. I guess that means it’s compelling on some level, but what a RIDICULOUSLY convoluted plot.

They left out the black oil, the Indian casino, the key to Rebecca and the Necronomicon.

As much as I enjoy this season, I’ll admit that guide definitely helped to clarify a lot of points. I didn’t catch why it was so crucial for the conspiracy to do what they did with Woodrugh. I just assumed it was sort of a general reaction.

I’ve watched every damned episode twice, just trying to follow what the hell’s going on. If it wasn’t for this thread, confirming that nearly everyone is confused, I probably would’ve thought it was just me. I know I felt pretty stupid at first.

That Slate article answered a lot of questions I didn’t even realize I had.

It’s HBO. Surely they have people to tell the actors where to stand.

This bothered me too. I didn’t think it was the door that they entered in the first place. It wasn’t covered in the otherwise excellent Slate article.

I hope that article is wrong about Vince Vaughn’s wife. She is the best, hottest gangster wife.

Well, she does have red hair; maybe she’s the rape-baby’s father.

Obviously this was before the surgery. She did tell him that she can’t have babies. She blamed it on previous abortions, but that could be a lie.

Nah, that would be too stupid.

I wonder if Slate will need to update their article after Sunday’s finale to give even more clarification or if the ending will just tie things up.

The more I think about this…

The kid is anomalously a red head. She’s a red head. They’ve been beating us over the head with the Semyon’s child difficulties, something seemingly unrelated to the overall plot. Then she suddenly tells him that she can’t have children, probably because of her claimed 3 abortions, which she never told him about until now.

Why is any of this necessary to the plot?

Also, there’s the psychiatrist who also happens to be a surgeon. Why add that fact? Because he “makes 8s into 10s”? Why is that important to the plot?

It’s True Detective. It doesn’t have to be necessary to the plot.

True, but it makes me wonder. Semyon would have to be pretty clueless to not realize he was married to a transexual but then again, it is True Detective.

In general, seemingly meaningless plot points often lead to something at the end.

Oops

Was the baby at the end Frank’s or Ray’s?

It was Ray and Ani’s baby. Ani refers to Ray’s “sons”, plural.

Definitely not the worst season finale I’ve seen, but it doesn’t make up for the 50% of the season that was mediocre and the 30% that was downright awful.

I did like Frank’s last walk. That was by far the best acting out of Vince this season.

Disappointing end to a disappointing season.

Some questions.

Did Bezzirides and Mr’s Velcoro have any of the money or was it all in Frank’s diamonds and Ray’s sack?

What long trip were they beginning? Were they not in Venezuela yet? I would think they were since it’s obviously been 9 months.

Also, at the end as the two women were walking through the crowd it appeared that there was a man following them. Who was that? Was he someone sent to kill Bezzirides?
