You got the salt and hot stuff covered, but I don’t see 'nuf sweet to make me happy. I’m bringing in one of my cakes–four layer, dark chocolate with cocoa whipped cream frosting–to tide us over while the brownies and chocolate chip cookies bake, and the fudge sets real fast like in the ice box, so that’ll be ready in a jiff. For those of you that think sweet can be something other than chocolate (there’s no accounting for taste, but you’re welcome to your own), I’ve got ginger snap–the crisp ones–and lemon squares. My sister, she’s been up in the big city, she adds some kiwi fruit to the lemon squares. Thought I’d be posh and do it too–pick it off if’n you don’t like it.
Now, somebody said something about cards–up for a game of Hearts? And pass those chicken wings.
Don’t mind if I sit down even though I’m not familiar with most of those. I hope you’re willing to teach a newbie.
Oh, and for others looking for the unpretentious card games, as my parents are from the midwest, I have it on good authority that Canasta, Pinochle, and Five Hundred are very high on the list. I’m pretty sure I have a spare deck or two around here (learned that from my mom - she never went anywhere without one).
What kind of munchies can I bring?
And can I bring my home brew? Or is that too pretentious?
