Thank you. I am glad to see posters brave enough to challenge the dominant narrative here.
Harris is not a conviction politician like Margaret Thatcher (privatization), or Bernie Sanders (socialism), or maybe even Donald Trump (nativism). There is no one big idea she is in politics to achieve. She presented real proposals last night, but her presidency will not depend on them, and, in any event, such proposals would not come out of Congress the way they went in.
I’m comfortable with this. Harris is a competent leader who will preside over a cabinet of distinguished experts. I suppose this sounds horribly elitist to many others and do not condemn those who look at it another way.
Baiting Trump last night was risky. If DJT had been able to hide his real self for ninety minutes, it would have backfired. But the Trump she brought out in the open is the real one. He’s the dangerous irresponsible self-centered anti-NATO isolationist that his four star generals and foreign policy advisors faced for four years. The danger would be greater next time because Trump is learning to hire toadies. It was in the national interest to let voters see the real Trump.
