Trump and Harris agree to September 10th ABC debate - Watch Along Starts at Post 431

Or Trump-Biden, maybe the only debate to convince a sitting President to drop out of a race.

I’d rank the debate immediately preceding this one as being quite “important in history” as well.

Now that is a simul-post.

You’re both correct. Guess I erased that one from my memory.

He looks like a dominant gorilla spoiling for a fight.

And, I suspect, is appealing to the same primate back-of-the-head response. That’s really the only sense I can make out of it.

And he’s spent every day since losing the last election demanding one type of rematch or another.

I have no time for that so-called “clarification,” nor should anyone else. Firstly, because of the 95% likelihood that he was lying when he said it, and secondly, because marching alongside Nazis automatically disqualifies one from being a “very fine [person].” That’s axiomatic.

I think you can be legally shot for this in like, 13 States.

I think some here are conflating accuracy, with legitimizing what Trump said, or seriously suggesting he’s not a racist.

On the MAGA forums, this “very fine people” is one of the first talking points I’ve encountered with any nuance at all.
Why would we insist on using this particular quote of Trump’s, when there are hundreds of others where we don’t need to get into the weeds of later clarifications in the same press conference?
This isn’t the same thing as saying Trump didn’t initially intend “very fine people” to include the nazis, nor that he didn’t encourage the nazis in the first place. There’s lots to criticize there but leaning into “very fine people” is not the way.

If you are responding to something in a thread that is basically off-topic or likely to lead to a hijack, try this:

How to Reply as a linked Topic:

Click Reply, in the upper left corner of the reply window is the reply type button, looks like a curving arrow point to the right.

Choose Reply as linked topic and it starts a new thread. As an example, you can choose GD, IMHO or The Pit for it.

That is actually the best method.

I would note for the record that Lincoln Lost that election to Douglas…make of that what you will…

Press on.

I hate to play the “cite” card on one of our favorite internet Moderators on the planet  but I started wondering about this, whether or not there was any “hey, gal to gal, is there anything you would’ve done differently against him in 2016 that I can glean from you for Tuesday night” conversations between Hillary and VP Harris.

I did find this source, but this sounds more like a “Hillary told the NY Times the advice that she ‘would give’ VP Harris” so I don’t exactly think of this as apples-to-apples.

Do we know if the two of them have been in close one-on-one direct communication lately?

Considering that politicians never directly answer the questions in a debate, I’m not sure what benefit there would be to have them in advance, anyway.

LOL, very fair to ask for a cite.

All I can tell you is MSNBC reported out clips of Hillary Clinton saying that Harris reached out to her and sought her help and advice. Both the Clinton and Harris camps have indicated that they have remained in close contact throughout the period in the run-up to the debate.

If I find anything in writing with more specificity, I will share it.

Correct.

Trump is already waffling on his “NO MORE DEBATES!” proclamation.

For what it’s worth, I’ve heard those same reports, but from different sources.

He has an accent. I saw it referred to as a Queens accent today in Jeff Tiedrich’s substack.

and from that point on, it was game fucking over for Donny. he completely lost his shit, and, in that thick Queens NY accent of his,…

I personally wouldn’t call it strong, though.
