Trump and Harris agree to September 10th ABC debate - Watch Along Starts at Post 431

I’m pretty sure he was referring to the television audience. And, not the entire television audience, but only the Trump supporters.

Considering the mental state of Trump supporters, well as we would say when I was a kid, it wouldn’t take much gas.

No, he was talking about how they were fact-checking him, and the audience “went crazy” in response to that. It doesn’t make sense as an after-the-fact “Oh, in retrospect, the TV audience ‘went crazy’”, because that didn’t happen either.

He really wants you to think that there was an audience in the room, and they were on his side in the moment. Why else even mention an “audience”?

You could perhaps justify it by referring to contemporaneous social media reactions, if inclined to generously call this an “audience”. But the problem with some sociopathic narcissists is how many people are apparently willing to try to make credible any batsh*t utterance.

This behavior isn’t exactly new.

There are several examples where he’s claimed something happened that millions witnessed that clearly didn’t. Part of it is part of his usual schtick of just straight up lying. But the other part seems to be an assumption everybody else has the same attention span and memory he does (“who are you going to believe? Me or your lying eyes?”). It would not shock me that he has re-written his own memory of the event to include a live studio audience that did indeed cheer.

“It was the biggest audience I’ve ever seen at a debate. Maybe the biggest audience that ever was.” (Note: this parody is not an actual quote.)

The audience comment is like how Trump says things “Everyone wanted Roe v. Wade overturned” and “Everyone wanted abortion moved back to the states”. I wish someone would ask him directly what he means by “everyone”. Clearly not everyone wanted those things. By “everyone”, he means all the sycophants who surround him. By “audience”, he means the handful of handlers he had backstage at the debate who were giving him high-fives when he came off stage.

Lather, Reince, repeat.

He also said it took courage to do it. Since when is courage required to do something popular?

Maybe he thinks “courage” just means getting mad about something; after all, it has “rage” in the word.

Last night I saw upon a a stair
An audience that wasn’t there.

trump is not given bad news, only good news by his sycophants. He likely sincerely thinks 'everyone" wanted Roe overturned, since that is what he has been told. If you give him bad news, he fires you.

He is a Mad King, in a Shakespearean way. But not as prosaically articulate.

Yep. I was just looking briefly at an article that flashed by that cited this as yet another example of a totally bizarre, unhinged comment that was a clear example of Trump’s mental decline and potentially serious mental health issues. To anyone outside the far-right bubble, Trump not only lost the debate bigly, but demonstrated his cognitive impairment by going off on batshit crazy rants instead of answering questions. And as for a cheering audience “going crazy”, there was no studio audience. Period. He’s either lying more shamelessly and blatantly than ever, or he’s having hallucinations, which is entirely possible. Neither one is an attribute any sane person should want the next president of the USA to have.

I think it’s quite probably both - he misremembers an audience in attendance, due to a combination of age related memory decline and never having the greatest memory in the first place. But also lying about that audience cheering, because that’s just what he does to try to support his points (“everybody” says so, etc).

Yet, considerably more folk than simply the “far right bubble” seem to be planning on voting for him.

I generally try to avoid listening to him, as his voice drives me crazy. But occasionally I will encounter his nonsensical blather and just wonder how any sentient being would think him qualified for any position of trust and authority. And yet people call Harris “dumb”… I don’t get it.

Yes, but many of those folks didn’t even see the debate, or if they did, they either didn’t bother to delve into the veracity of anything Trump said and/or they just didn’t care.

Many of these unfortunates suffer under the delusion that Trump will somehow make their lives better, starting with deporting all those barbaric immigrants, and then somehow magically causing them all to get big pay raises while cutting the cost of everything they buy! Trump not only doesn’t have to obey the laws of the land, he doesn’t even have to obey the laws of economics or math! That’s surely worth voting for!

Well, sure, dog whistles aren’t meant to be noticed by everybody

No. He knew perfectly well. Just like he knew he lost the debate yet claims everyone knows he won.

I am not sure. His cadre of sycophants will tell him what they think he wants to hear.

This cat’s reaction to trump and the wild claim about pets is soooooo funny.

Pets really don’t like trump.

Take that extra dot out from in front of youtube.
