Trump and his "Cat License"

He was unqualified to do so.

It is also negligent to warn people about disasters that do not have a reasonable likelihood of occurring; it makes them spend precious resources and take unnecessary risks.

Forget it, Jake. It’s Magivertown.

“The failing Hurricane Dorian, which the Fake (or bad!) News claimed was the biggest ever, barely made an impact on “Alabama” after I lead the response. THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!”

This thread is really bizarre. Magiver, for real? I mean, come on.

Props to Smapti for an excellent impression, especially the parenthetical. Could use more typos. (Or, as Magiver might claim, proper spelling examples)

Maybe he’s trump? I mean, has anyone ever met Magiver?

Nah, spels too guz to be the Skin Blob (thanks, satw!)

Should we be adding name to the list of Trumps’ pseudonyms?

(1) Here you can see how the NHC prediction evolved with time. They never made a prediction that got west of the central part of Florida. It is a lie to imply that they did.

(2) The more important point is this: Trump is using a prediction made on August 29 to justify a tweet he sent out 3 days later that said that Alabama was in the cross-hairs. His tweet, loosely based on (i.e., extrapolated from) outdated 3-day old information, was such a problem that the NWS office in Birmingham Alabama had to issue a tweet that said “Alabama will NOT see any impacts from #Dorian. We repeat, no impacts from Hurricane #Dorian will be felt across Alabama. The system will remain too far east”. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2019/09/04/president-trump-shows-doctored-hurricane-chart-was-it-cover-up-alabama-twitter-flub/)

Why doesn’t he just own up to his mistake instead of accusing the media of “fake news” when they are accurately reporting his screw up?

This thread is actively painful to read. Like, if people want to ask me, “BPC, why don’t you have faith in humanity?” I will link to this thread. :frowning:

The President has the royal Executive Power to Sharpie anything he wants in the Oval Office. Once Presidentially Sharpied, it is now known as “Official and Not Wrong.”

I’d be curious to hear your convoluted thinking about his claims of never having heard of a category 5 hurricane before, despite there having been three of them during his presidency, and having actually announced the fact in the past. The man is a senile, pouting child who has to have his way, regardless of the outlandishness of his claims. It’s really not difficult to say “Oops, I made a mistake there” and laugh something off, but the man is a humorless bully who, as far as I know, has never laughed at himself in his life.

He’s never heard of a category 5 hurricane, he’s only read about them. See, no one has ever actually spoken the words “category 5 hurricane” to him – prove that wrong! Also, 2+2 = 5, and there are 5 lights, freedom is slavery, and so on.

Since when does Trump read?

See? More evidence in his favor.

Also, fun fact: this is illegal.

But hey, since when did Trump care about the law, right?

Technically, by the time that the Trumpster showed his map, it wasn’t a forecast anymore. It was just the mindless “I’M RIGHT. I’M ALWAYS RIGHT.” pablum of our toddler president.

I absolutely believe that his comments about there never having been a cat 5 hurricane are somehow him bragging that he alone has had to deal with this and that his mismanagement of the mess in Puerto Rico can be blamed on the “fact” that there have never been cat 5 hurricanes ever in history. The “man” is a transparent fool.

Every time there’s a category 5 hurricane, Trump claims he’s never heard of it. It’s the strangest thing to brag about that I can possibly imagine.

I think this episode proves beyond a reasonable doubt that when Trump loses the 2020 election bigly, his supporters will absolutely believe it when Trump claims that the election was stolen from him by the Mole-Men, who were operating from their base on the far side of the moon, in cooperation with the Shape-shifting Lizard people.

In all seriousness - there are those who would defend a scenario like this, with no reservations whatsoever.

I hadn’t really thought it through before, but yeah I think you’ve nailed it here. “I alone have handled three Category 5 Hurricanes!” Good read.
