It seems that in an effort to support his attacks on Alicia Machado, and show Hillary’s poor judgement, Trump has told people to go find her sex tape.
Is there anyone who can really support this? I’m seriously asking- in what world does anyone think this is OK? I’d genuinely like to hear someone defend this…
The OP gambit of trying to drum up ‘this is beneath us!’ might be more effective, or Trump’s gambit of discrediting the opponent indirectly, by pointing to the sex tape of the opponent’s effective surrogate, might be more effective. Perhaps biased by being sort of ‘elitist’ in outlook, though I disdain Trump and Clinton fairly close to equally, I don’t think Trump helps himself this way.
But some fundamental moral way in which Trump is wrong to point to a sex tape, assuming it wasn’t made or publicized against the subject’s will*, compared to the general state of politics? Surely you jest.
*a big if you might say, but if so that should be your initial focus. If you started out objecting because it’s a ‘fappening’ type of invasive hacking release of somebody’s private sexual material that would be one thing. If it’s a Kim K/Pamela A type “oh no, ‘somebody’ leaked our tape?!” (yeah right), then not.
If you really want to see it, I am copying and pasting a post from another message. There is really nothing to see. It is from a Mexican reality TV show. The more I think about it, the more likely it seems that a producer just told the couple to get under the sheets and pretend like they are having sex.
But the thing is, 90% of the people who hear Trump say this are not actually going to go searching for it. They are going to assume that it is some nasty, dirty porn. There is not even any nudity in it!
I apologize. :o His surrogates will probably attempt to defend his mention of the alleged tape. If the whole story gets enough traction, we may see them doing so on more palatable networks.
I am given to understand that “sex tapes” mean pictures of people actually engaging in sex and in such an explicit fashion as to leave no doubt. I don’t know that much about it, and will rely on expert testimony from the SDMB pervo and deev community.
It’s like Clinton set a trap for Donald that he got caught in big time, and at this point he could easily walk out of the trap (by shutting the hell up about this), but instead he’s repeatedly opening the trap and slamming it shut on his junk.
Donald doesn’t just shoot himself in the foot. He shoots himself in the foot, then shoots himself in the foot again to prove he meant it, then shoots the other foot just in case it gets any ideas.
“It’s not really a sex tape” didn’t seem to be the theme of the OP, but rather “it’s beneath us to speak of such things in an august presidential campaign!”. And among people who would conceivably GAS about Machado in terms of who they vote for, they probably will follow the link, and be disappointed apparently.
I think it’s obvious that Donald Trump’s vicious and degrading abuse of this poor woman when she was Miss Universe destroyed her self-esteem and led her to a life of wanton debauchery prostituting herself for the sex tape industry.
And now Donald Trump has the nerve to try to humiliate her for something he caused.
I never said it was a sex tape. I saw “it”, whatever you want to call it, played on one of the talk shows. “It” is from some reality show where the woman is seen crawling under the sheets/covers of a bed with some guy. Grainy and B&W. If you have a problem with the “sex tape” label, you’ll have to take that up with the OP.
