I freaking LOVE that movie.
The GOP case is so amazingly stupid, it pains me to think that almost half our country are under such mental defect that they gobble this shit up.
had a commuter break. Looks like rankin has had enough of this.
Damn, Stacey Plaskett is so fricking awesome.
There’s also the whole prejudicial use of the term ‘due process’ by the Shit-Gibbon’s attorneys:
[many other articles say substantially the same thing: due process really doesn’t apply where your power, and not your life/liberty, is at stake]
Michael van der Veen is without a doubt the most annoying slimeball lawyer I’ve seen since the OJ murder trial. I was streaming CNN but had to stop due to blood pressure. The orange shit-gibbon must love him, but probably still won’t pay him.
Randomish thought.
The thrust of the prosecution is that if there are no consequences for criminal actions by a President, then future Presidents will act with impunity in breaking laws and norms.
This is exactly what the Republican Party politicians want, so long as it is a Republican president acting with impunity.
Of course, if it’s a Democratic party president, then they’ll go all guns blazin’ . Don’t bother hitting them with the hypocrisy of it, of course.
The concept of due process applies, but the level of process that is due varies greatly. It’s the reason you don’t get a jury trial for a traffic ticket, but you still have due process. (some opportunity to contest, etc)
“Oyez, oyez, all rise for the courtroom scene, take 1!”
Different courtroom scene, of course.
“I’d like to take one, too, Dad.”
The GOP’s defense of Trump: “Oh yeah, well what about…?”
Today’s Congress would undoubtedly benefit from the prudence and judiciousness of Sen. Bluto Blutarski.
The guy was really starting to sound like a broken record. You all remember records, right? Where you put the needle down on the… oh wait, that was the other idiot on the defense team.
Yours or his?
Seriously, given the anger that was clearly rising in a few of Van Der Veen’s responses, I thought he was going to bust a blood vessel.
Van der Veen is apparently one of those slimeball personal injury lawyers when he’s not shilling for Trump. Apparently specializes in dog bites, but he’ll do any personal injury lawsuit. Last year he sued Trump for false claims about mail-in voting fraud, but I guess things change …
Probably pretend anger, unless he was upset at how crappily his case was unfolding. I couldn’t watch long enough to really get a solid impression. At least not without a few stiff drinks.
Anybody else catch this one ?
Whoa, looks like there maybe some new things in the closing statements.
Well, sure - Trump was sending a message. Either do what I want or I’ll send jack-booted thugs to hurt you.
Yet McCarthy voted no on impeachment, and even went down to Florida subsequently to kneel before Trump and ask for his donor list, which by the way, Trump didn’t give him. Jesus, Republicans, is there no depth you all are willing to subject yourself to?
If I were a lawyer I would be ashamed of my profession. I have never seen that level of courtroom crap in all my life…an I am including cheap sitcoms and bad movies. Can you imagine how a judge would have reacted if an attorney had presented that totally out of context “fight” clip during a trial?
