I agree that attacking and taking over state capitols wouldn’t prevent Kamala from becoming president, but it would lead to wide-spread panic and chaos. With state governments effectively shutdown in mulitple states, even just temporarily, the MAGAs might think they have a bargaining chip they can use to illegally put Trump in office. It may sound crazy, but remember who we’re dealing with here.
Having said that, I don’t see how this could ever work. The state militias would retake the capitols, unless there was a long-term standoff, in which case it would be resolved by Harris declaring a state of emergency and deploying federal troops to quell the state insurrections. End of story.

Even in this case, there’s nothing special about the capitol buildings themselves. The legislature could meet anywhere to conduct its business, while the national guard makes sure none of the idiots escapes from them capitol. Just starve them out, make them look entirely ineffectual and weak.
