I have been refusing to capitalize his name for years. My own little rebellion.
I assume there’s some missing punctuation there, because I’m pretty sure I’ve met more than 45 atheists.
Ditto. Sometimes autocorrect overrules me and I don’t catch it. Autocorrect is maga.
I am buying it, but you but a capital T there, but other than that- sure.
Same here.
4%. sorry.
I was raised kinda gently. If you can call a Marine DI gentle.
The people who I knew that went to church, My ol’ Granny, couple of Aunts. I assume my Mother would have but she died when I was very little.
I was never taken to church. Never got into it later.
My Granny and Aunts and our housekeeper/nanny were all Christians. One Methodist and the rest some kind of Baptist.
They were very nice, gentle sweet women.
You’d never see them on a road rage scene screaming how Christian and non-racist they were. Cursing, telling some one go back to your f__king country to Americans.
These so-called Christians aren’t real. If they can’t even read a Bible and follow it’s teachings.
My ol’ Granny would be horrified at what passes for a Christian at a Trump Rally.
She wasn’t a Bible thumper or blatantly displaying Jesus is my co-pilot bumper stickers. But she knew her Bible.
(Always good with those crossword clues, I want you to know)
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I refuse to capitalize a few proper nouns these days.
(8) grumpy
(9) sleepy
(10) dopey
It’s a Family Feud clue sweep!
Those aren’t crosses they’re wearing around their necks. They’re the letter “T”.
It’s harder to beat someone with the Bible if you open it first.
Nope, there are exactly 45. Interestingly, they’re all Dopers.
(11) stinky.

The notion might be slightly more palatable if he would name his successor ahead of time. Does he think he’s going to live forever? He won’t, despite what Ronnie Johnson says. I can’t wait until this election is over, and he can just fume in his jail cell until he croaks.
Of course, when he eventually dies, no matter the cause - including natural ones, his followers will remain convinced, ad infinitum, that he was assassinated by Democrats.
Yes autocorrect has slipped a few by that I missed.
I chuckled at your “autocorrect is maga” comment!
Autocorrect is both helpful and destructive and sometimes downright silly depending on it’s mood of the moment.
That said, his comment was/is perplexing/ominous. I can’t wait for this election to be done.

No kidding! My worry is the next time around, the insurrection will not be localized to the federal Capitol building. It will be at state capitols.
I was thinking the same thing for some reason…

It’s harder to beat someone with the Bible if you open it first.
I’m so stealing this line.

@dolphinboy This is the problem with your argument in a nutshell. If we elect TFG in 2024 to avoid an entirely hypothetical coordinated civil war by his base, what happens in 2028 when you are now so worried about another hypothetical coordinated civil war from his base unless he’s either allowed a third term or his anointed… I mean appointed successor isn’t allowed to win? Only this time he’s had another 4 years to undermine democratic institutions from within.
I agree, it’s better to prepare for a second insurrection and ensure it can be put down than for Trump to win, but I really think another attack on the Capitol, or more likely this time state capitols, is in the offing if he loses. I trust the national and state militia will be ready no matter what happens.

I’m so stealing this line.
Please do.

I’m just hoping not too much of it comes from within the state capitols.
But in any case – better to have it this year, if it happens, than after 4 years of Trump and Project 2025 in power.
I don’t doubt that Trump would like to dismantle democracy and be king for life, and will attempt that if he can. He knows we know that, and this speech is bait. He said this to cause liberal outrage.
What he’s said is something that is sufficiently close to sounding like he will dismantle the election process, so as to trigger conversations like this, but sufficiently unspecific so as to also be easy to brush off as not what those silly liberals are saying.
It’s a game of double bluff, because what he’s said sounds like his true intentions, but is deniable as such. I don’t have any specific ideas on how to stop playing this game though.
He’s not that clever. There is no double-meaning here. He means what he says.
