Trump indicted

We haven’t seen the indictment yet, but I’d wager that there is a good possibility that conviction on these charges won’t lead to any incarceration. Non violent “first offense” shouldn’t usually involve jail time. Now, if there are really 30 counts, and it’s broader than the Stormy thing, all bets are off. (but still maybe 60 or 90 days, not
years) We’ll know more next week.

I have more optimism that racketeering and conspiracy charges from the Georgia inquiry will hurt Trump.

I can’t see stretching a misdemeanor into felony election charges with standing a appeal. I guess it’s worth trying.

All of a sudden they become experts on law when its a Dem that plays their game.

Even a week would be sweet. This is a guy who’s been waited on hand and foot his entire life, can you imagine what a horror actually being in jail would be for him? Even just a few days of being told what to do every minute, with uncomfortable furniture, unflattering clothes and no sycophants would be absolute torture to him.

At least he’s already used to shitty food.

Yeah, I think Alvin Bragg is, on this list of legal woes, the house show warm-up act(no offense intended to him). Talented and fun to watch, but Smith is the Main Event, which is appropriate given Trump’s WWF history.

We agree.

And I think Smith is moving fast, now. He’s at the innermost circles of Trump’s rogue galleries in both cases: Pence, Jared, Ivanka, Meadows, Miller, Scavino, etc. They the last rings of protection.

Some of those are likely to plead the Fifth now that they’ve been compelled to testify, and Smith will have to decide if he will grant some immunity to get their testimony against Trump. But that’s about all there is left to do on both cases.

Despite what many think, DOJ has moved with astonishing speed in 2 extremely complex cases. The courts also seem to be done with Trump’s delay games.

Honestly, I think DeSantis has played this pretty well so far. He probably knows he cannot do anything to protect TFG, but making statements about not cooperating with the political witch-hunt earns him some cover for later, when he will need TFG’s minions’ votes. And privately, DeSantis (and probably many in the GOP) are relieved this is taking place - the Dems can be painted as the bad guys and they can quietly, finally, give TFG the heave-ho. Win-win!

He supplies these pretty well on his own.

Yes, but he doesn’t think that. He thinks he looks good.

There’s no way he’d think a prison jumpsuit was a good look, though.

Could any of the other prosecutors looking into Trumps crimes indict him on Tuesday? Could he be taken to Georgia in cuffs directly from the New York booking?

Now he has to have steak, medium rare…no ketchup.

The horror!

Maybe he’ll get a chance to eat 50 hard-boiled eggs in an hour.

The short answer is no.

There are no indictments at this point in the Georgia case. There won’t be until early May at the soonest. The special grand jury Fani Willis convened in order to get testimony and the report upon which indictments will be based did not have the authority to actually issue indictments. It was still a smart move by Willis for reasons I won’t go into here.

I’m not clear on the reasons why, but no regular grand juries will be convened in Georgia until the beginning of May. That’s the soonest Willis can seek indictments of Trump.

Without indictments, there’s nothing to arrest him on.

Same deal with the Feds. Until they are done with the 2 grand juries they’re using, there will be no indictments. Since we’ve only just seen several key witnesses ordered to testify, we can divine that those cases are not yet ripe for indictment.

IOW, Lindsey has his latest Leave Britney Alone moment (Vid: app. 4min).

I genuinely laughed out loud.

Trump has done so many bad things. Especially in the weeks following the election.

Paying off Stormy is low hanging fruit.

You know, there’s a reason farmers pick the low-hanging fruit first.

DeSantis, like just about everybody else in the party, wants somebody else to bell the face-eating leopard.

It might be a good idea to have the Feds staking out the CFSG’s whereabouts so they can arrest any MAGATs who try to rescue him. Much hilarity will ensue if this happens.

I prefer the expression “barely dangling mushroom.”
