I think he’ll just let this one go because he doesn’t care in the slightest about culture (and neither does MAGA). Putting his name on the Center was just something that was extremely easy to do, he thought it looked cool and he was getting one over on the libs. His whining now that if he can’t have his name on it, he’s not going to fix their stupid building is him being a big baby but he doesn’t care enough to fight about it. There are plenty of other things to leave his mark on.
I agree with that and I’ll add that it won’t surprise me in the least if he tries to sell the letters to the public. Either for a few grand each so the regular MAGA voting public citizens can buy them or for a million+ dollars each so they can be used as a way for people to bribe him.
You are correct about culture, but he cares about signage.
If it wasn’t for the requirement of sixty votes in the Senate, I would say that this is a classic case of the strongman setting up a loyalty test for the legislature to abjectly put the Kennedy Center renaming in law. But here, the legislature has already failed the loyalty test by repeatedly refusing Trump’s demand to end the filibuster.
I do not see how this game can be over.
I want the outline/shadow of his name to remain as a testament to what a loser he is.
When the giants invade and conquer (as you just know they will – a la Gulliver’s Travels or Planet of the Apes), and use what’s left of our world as a giant Scrabble game, those freakishly huge “TRUMP” signs – if nothing changes – should each have a face value of about nine points.
And methinks there are more and more “T,” “R,” “U,” “M,” and “P” tiles gathering dust in warehouses around the world.
So … in one possible future … Trump does have quantifiable value.

I think Trump is willing to let go of the Kennedy Center because even someone as dimwitted as he is must surely realize what a shambles his meddling has made of the place. The executive director of the National Symphony Orchestra quit in protest, the Washington National Opera terminated their residency, and countless renowned artists have been refusing to perform there. I’m sure donations have been drying up, too. Trump may choose to blame all this on the “radical left” but there’s no getting away from the fact that the whole debacle exposes him as an uncultured loser.

And on the day it happened, I assume it was on the news. Did any reporters contact Trump?. And did he publicly admit to, or acknowledge in any way, that he was ever involved with those “loser” properties?

On top of the shameless narcissism behind the Kennedy Center debacle and the illegal name change, the change in signage typified the incompetence behind the whole mismanagement debacle. It was properly named “The John F Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts”. When the Orange Toddler added himself to the sign, it became “The Donald J Trump and The John F Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts”.
When a place or organization is named for two individuals, only one “the” at the beginning of the name is used. The second redundant “the” remained as an enduring testament to the gross incompetence and illiteracy behind this attempt to hijack one of America’s most prominent cultural institutions by America’s most shameless pathological narcissist, known for turning to shit everything he touches.
Or, less pessimistically, the understanding that someday, this moronic decision would be reversed, and the original signage needed to be left intact against that day.

I know it can’t happen, but I really wish Trump could be charged with theft of honor. Despite anyone’s politics, JFK was a genuine hero who saved the lives of everyone on his PT boat. He was awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Medal for heroism and the Purple Heart. For his poser to put his name over Kennedy’s is an insult to every person who has served.
Certainly his spelling skills are notoriously unreliable.

I see a kind of tortured logic in the second „The", though: Wouldn’t „The Donald J Trump and John F Kennedy Memorial Center …" imply that both these gentlemen are no more with us? Or can something named a memorial be to a living person in the US? (perhaps with the requirement that the living person cannot remember their name anymore?)
