Every time he does something like this, I look at it as another campaign promise the opposition gets to make. I have to assume at the midterms, otherwise for sure in 2028, we’ll be seeing Dem candidates saying they’ll change this back to The Kennedy Center, they’ll fix the White House addition, they’ll replace the former president’s portraits, re-remodel the bathroom, rename The Gulf Of Mexico etc etc etc.
There’s a potenial GoFundMe to which I’d happily contribute.
Suing the artist, eh? Sounds like a sure fire way to attract talent to your shitty club.
Was the building really in severe disrepair?
Like the east wing of the White House was.
If Trump or his people say it was, you have your answer.
I’m sure that Redd’s contract with the Kennedy center includes penalties are levied if he fails to perform, and he will presumably be made to pay that amount, but I highly doubt it’s a million dollars.
If you mean Democratic candidates in overwhelmingly Democratic House districts, yes.
As for others, each will be considered separately. Reverting the Kennedy Center name should be politically safe, so long a Trump is alive. It will be fairly cheap to do, and it is easy for swing voters to see how a martyred president should be honored separately.
There is not a Kennedy center anymore. I’d like to see every performer take the same stance, and see it fall into disuse because of what Trump has done.
Just from what I’m seeing in this article from March, these people already have…
Lin-Manuel Miranda/Hamilton
Issa Rae
Peter Wolf (J Geils Band)
Low Cut Connie
Rhiannon Giddens
SNL writer Sylvia Traymore Morrison
Balun
Louise Penney
Amanda Rheaume
RIOT! Funny Women Stand Up
Eureka Day
Alfred Street Baptist Choir
There’s more, but the lists I’m finding are all 6+ months old.
The website trumpkennedycenter.org has made a soft launch. There’s only one page; but it promises
There’s also a teaser that offers to ring in the new year with the Epstein Dancers!
(The domain, as you’ll recall, was obtained by a South Park writer)
Also, in keeping with the general theme, a request to send him money.
Brilliant! ![]()
The incompetence that pervades this administration is breathtaking. They can’t anticipate anything more than three seconds into the future, or see past the ends of their noses.
I think part of the problem is that Trump throws out crazy-ass ideas like adding his name to that of the Kennedy Center and his staff is forced to respond as if the ideas are actually worthwhile and not nutso.
Trump wants to replace the armrests in the Kennedy Center, with marble armrests.
That ought to be comfortable.
This is really, really stupid even by Trump standards.
In case anyone wants a cite for that ridiculous idea of his.
Thanks @Dewey_Finn . I was having trouble finding it. Oh, I’m not on Lies Social.
Of course, so is the the Orange Moron himself!
I wonder why marble instead of gold? I mean, sure, the ethical standards of the current attendees would ensure that actual gold armrests would all mysteriously disappear after the first evening. And reappear the next day at pawnshops, eBay, and criminal dealers in precious metals, but since these imbeciles can’t seem to be able to anticipate even the most obvious consequences of anything they decide, how would they know that?
Why should we confine the marble only to the armrests? Surely marble seats and seatbacks would also be a good idea.
And who could foresee any problems with that?
I fantasize about having a long pipe with a big chisel welded to the end. Slam it into those letters until they fall to the ground. Once the anchors are removed from the wall, it would be easy for a restoration artist to cover up the patches.
