No prob. It can’t be said too often.
“Just the place for a Snark!” the Bellman cried,
As he landed his crew with care;
Supporting each man on the top of the tide
By a finger entwined in his hair.
“Just the place for a Snark! I have said it twice:
That alone should encourage the crew.
Just the place for a Snark! I have said it thrice:
What I tell you three times is true.”
You’ve probably said it more than thrice, careless of the fact that constant repetition doesn’t make something true. But you’re bound to keep reminding us until (hopefully) like the Baker you softly and suddenly vanish away.
You’re wrong on just one thing there. Trump actually told his supporters that he specifically said stuff he did not mean just because “it sounded good” to them and that would get them to vote for him. They still lap up his vomit. He’s not ignoring his statements as though they never happened; he’s specifically stating that he lied to his supporters.
If you don’t want to be reminded (and you’re right, I will keep on doing it), I suggest you skip my threads.
It isn’t my repetition that makes it true; it’s the fact that I’m reporting stuff that has actually happened. THAT’S what makes it true. See the difference?
Love the Hunting of the Snark references.
It is always heartening for those of us who revulse at the very thought of democracy to see it’s acolytes despising ordinary people.
Anyway, I’m less qualified than the repulsive Trump. Most of the folk on this board are. The main anguish for the establishment people who scream about Trump the most is that he is not a politician — and apparently only trained establishment politicians can lead us to the high uplands. Preferably blindfolded and keeping our opinions to ourselves.
Those who despise the cretins also think them incapable of risk assessment: many will be worse off under his policies — but they would have been no better off under Hillary. Economic Inequality barely got better under 8 years of Obama, it can only shift further down under Trump or Hillary. They decided they would rather look at the jubilant face of Trump than the self-righteous smugness of Hillary.
That’s their right.
Well whatcha gonna do ?
No, that’s not the main objection. You haven’t been paying attention.
This is one reason why I keep posting things that reveal Trump’s ineptitude, lack of principles, vanity, inconsistency, and just plain stupidity. Eventually it may sink in to some people’s heads what kind of man we will soon have as President. Or not.
Well, his hands are probably already the same size as Hillary’s.
Just out of curiosity, what’s your opinion on the kind folks who, back in 1933, voted for a charming young politician by the name of “Adolf Hitler”? I think most of the people who voted for him were kinda terrible people. Extreme example? Sure. But if you voted for Trump, you’re either ignorant or evil.
Actually, the main anguish regarding Trump has a lot more to do with the fact that he knows nothing, seems utterly uninterested in learning anything, and is already causing international incidents while flying by the seat of his pants with no clue what he’s doing or talking about… But by all means, let’s feed his fucking myth that it’s because he’s not part of the “establishment”, and not that he’s unqualified and arrogant in ways that are legitimately dangerous.
Hey buddy. Is “better” or “worse” better? Yeah, economic inequality barely got better under Obama. Clinton had well-thought-out plans for combating income inequality. Trump’s party thinks it’s just a bunch of whining, have rolled out plans to kneecap obamacare, and is making the stinkeye towards medicare and social security. There’s a difference between skepticism and cynicism. This leaps way over that line. “Everything is shit, therefore everything is equally shit.” Fuck that noise. If you think Clinton would have been just as bad for you as Trump, and you aren’t in the top 0.1%, you are wrong. Just like the fucking morons who said that Bush and Gore were both just as bad.
And it’s our right to point out what a colossally stupid decision that was. Just like most of what you say in your post.
Ask you nicely not to be such an idiot next time?
No, that is not even on the list. His pandering to racism, xenophobia, and misogyny are on it, as is the deliberate ignorance that threatens the security of us all, the corruption that will inevitably follow his inescapable business conflicts, his contempt for anyone but his fellow wealthy that will endanger the livelihoods and health of most of us … is it really necessary to continue?
No, his not being a politician is hardly an issue. What is an issue is that so many of us are happy and proud to buy into all of that.
So, which is worse? A Trump that attempts to follow through on his campaign promises or one that doesn’t?
I don’t know what could be worse than his campaign promises and the ids they aroused, so that. Not that we have any idea what he really *is *going to do, other than fuck up.
I don’t care about this so much as it’s all coming from the same person. Many people creating “anti-Trump” threads? No biggie. One poster creating thread after thread after thread after thread about Trump, however, borders (IMO) on becoming a one trick pony or should maybe start thinking about either trying to keep it all in one “trump” topic or maybe starting a blog to get them feelings out.
Just my two cents.
Here’s your change. <Hands two cents back>
What the hell do you care? Seriously. If you don’t like my threads, don’t read them.
Criticizing Trump here can be cathartic or entertaining, but the idea that it’s helping the cause is a bit silly. Are there even 10 Trump supporters on this site? Posting such messages to a pro-Trump community would be better, assuming you don’t get banned instantly.
Discussing **me **is the most pointless exercise of all.
But isn’t it all about you?
NEWSFLASH: Donald T**** is a lying, hypocritical sack of shit. Also, his hair looks silly.
Grin! Good point. Insisting that he follow through on his promises is a little like those who have argued that the Koran is a book of hatred and thus Muslims “should” kill indiscriminately. It’s trying to force someone into the worst possible pigeonhole, rather than being glad when they aren’t in the worst possible pigeonhole.
That’s assuming we know the worst possible pigeonhole.
We may learn of exciting and new worst case scenarios here in the next coupla years.
We’d be lucky if Trump was morphing into Hillary Clinton. Unfortunately, what he’s morphing into is the right wing caricature of Hillary Clinton.
