I am generally of the opinion that “both sides do it” but even I have to agree that Trump is well beyond that. So far beyond, in fact, that I hope every Republican who has excused his behavior–even moderates (I’m looking at you, Susan Collins)–gets hammered in the upcoming election. I want scorched earth. I want this to be a lesson to any party that dares to hand the reigns to such an ignoramus.

I think this is one of the reasons why there’s a dearth of conservatives or Republicans or whatever on this board. They’ve really gone off the deep end. It’s not so much that the SDMB is a monoculture, it’s just that we continue to stress facts and cites. There are several people off the top of my head that are still here and used to be considered on the right side of the spectrum. However, the Overton window blew right by them and now they are part of this “monoculture.”
We still have interesting debates about economic policy, abortion, religious freedom, you name it. But, there’s basically no defending Trump or today’s Republicans, so it will seem like a pile-on whenever politics is involved.
