In the close wake of Congress having passed a $2 trillion coronavirus relief/stimulus bill, Trump is now pushing for action on another $2 trillion bill, this time the long-discussed move to overhaul American infrastructure. In addition, Pelosi is supportive as well.
The article says nothing of her support for Trump’s “plan”, just that she supports the idea of infrastructure improvement.
This has nothing to do with Trump’s Infrastructure Plan. This is Trump glomming on, like the parasite he is, onto Pelosi’s Phase III Coronavirus stimulus plan that she spoke about this morning on MSNBC. Trump hate watches Morning Joe every day.
For a dumb ass, this is a brilliant plan, if so.

I’m wondering how this helps with the virus response and economy. Nobody can work in groups until isolation is over, so how do you build a bridge or whatever under those circumstances? Obviously engineers can individually do CAD, project managers can pull all the bits together, all working solo. But getting things shovel-ready is just the first step – someone must wield the shovel next.
Everything Trump does is PR to promote his image–he doesn’t care about anything else. He’s a cheap attention whole, and if someone else is getting better attention than he, then he’ll say anything to divert that attention. So naturally, if someone mentions building, he’s going to have to start putting out his bullshit narrative of being the greatest developer in history. He can’t stop himself.
He had three years to get an infrastructure bill done, but all he did was talk about it. Still, we can be sure of one thing: Whoever actually gets one through, Trump’s ass-licking cronies will be doing everything they can to get as much money as they can, while building the lowest quality structures, and he’ll accommodate them as much as possible.
We just need to design shovels with really long handles.

Infrastructure improvement with a 0% (or negative) interest rate is something President Obama would’ve been thrilled to work with if we’d had a receptive Congress after 2010. Pelosi should provide a bill to the Senate that includes all Trump is asking for plus all the good healthcare stuff Republicans hate, just as soon as she can get it through committees.
The devil is in the details. Trump is going to want public / private partnership deals, where the public absorbs the risk and initial cost and his friends in the private sector reap all the benefits.

Yeah, this plan may have been bouncing around for years but Trump is going to want to put his own unique stamp on it. And by ‘stamp’ I mean give contracts to all of his cronies and Russian mob lenders to whom he owes money while getting licensing deals to put his name on every vertical surface in twenty foot high good letters.
