Hey, if the Democrats are going to put up their worst candidate in recent memory it’s really decent of the Republicans to do likewise.
But chaos is an intrinsic part of the “democratic process”.
Do we as a nation think less of other democracies when they have noisy public disputes over political candidates and issues? Personally, I know I don’t. On the contrary, if I see a bunch of racist assholes yelling for attention in another country, I’m relieved to see that protesters are publicly challenging their views, as in the case of last year’s Sweden protests. (And also as in that case, that doesn’t mean that I necessarily approve of protesters breaking laws. But that’s not the same as condemning the “chaos” of direct public protest altogether, which seems to be your position.)
Behaving in a “professional” manner is supposed to be the job of the candidates, not the voters.
So your objection to peaceful protests is that they make us weaker in the eyes of the world? Interesting perspective. I’m under the impression that peaceful protest is one of the things that people actually like about American politics. Try and imagine where the Civil Rights movement would be without them, for example.
Yes, yes, it was annoying I am certain. And I know from traffic, what with the Bay Area and LA as my proving grounds. Trump supporters behind the blockages were probably royally ticked. Everyone else - who knows. It did make the news and it did make the point that people are not happy with Trump.
True that. If civil disobedience isn’t your thing, then apparently your path is clear.
Entirely incorrect in every single particular.
Also wrong.
Nope.
You’re doing even worse than my NCAA tournament bracket right now, and that’s saying something.
This is…fascinating. Bizarre and arguably inane…but definitely fascinating. Do go on.
“The system I support?” Peaceful assembly, protest, and civil disobedience? Or the legal system, which allows protesters to be removed when they break the law–which they were–and charged if necessary–which they were? Do you not agree with my support of the legal system and rule of law? Honestly, I haven’t the faintest idea what you’re on about here.
*In summary I do support movements of civil disobedience. Do your thing if that’s your calling, I certainly have. *
Dude, multi-quoting is not that hard.
Apparently it is when you’re missing a finger.
Give him a break. He’s missing significant parts of his brain.
Look at the username. It’s only a finger.
The world needs rebalancing. With a non-Trump president, US public debt will increase to probably $25tn in 5 years.
I am looking at a possible disruption in world order if Trump becomes prez. Why should Americans have all the world working for them as cheap labour when unofficial jobless rates there are as high as 25-30% and with so many people on welfare?
Concerns against Trump may well prove to be blown out of proportion… He is a smart guy. he can’t directly say he will away some welfare from the unworthy people. He is very intelligent. He will say what works - like about jobs, to appeal to blue collar worker base.
From what we have seen in India, I think many would agree that most politicians are good-for-nothing. In USA as well, it could be similar. So Trump insulting them is not a problem IMO. It helps if some of these politicians had smaller egos.
Now that Rubio is out, you won’t see him calling little Rubio. He will treat him with respect. Trump is smart.
the fear abt racism is unfounded. There is fear mongering going on I think. One or two bad incidents might be there. These stray incidents are also there since immigrants vote democrat.
Muslim ban - I oppose. But it’s America’s right. Upto Muslims to abandon Islam if they want to settle in USA if it’s indeed banned.
thing is I don’t prefer the status quo - the US being 25% of global GDP and just 4.5% of world population, oil being traded in USD, 88% of global trade happening in USD. Current age of information(android phones , broadband) is the age of equality. There shouldn’t be so much inequality among nations as well.
Ideal scenario would be that 1.) the US itself closes the door on Indians/Chinese (trade barriers, visa bans etc) so that they can start to look inwards rather than at the developed world 2.) The crash of the petro dollar coz Muslims don’t like Trump, hopefully they won’t trade oil for dollars anymore.
Funny thing is my own brother’s employer has applied for H1B for him (results to be out in June maybe) and yet I support Trump.
This forum is way too left leaning to appreciate what Trump actually stands for.
We can certainly understand worry being turned to fear, fear into anger, and anger into votes. Any hack pol can do that.
Nobody knows what Trump stands for, other than Trump.
So explain rather than being smug.
Ok, maybe you can be brave enough to take a simple test:
Watch this Trump Clip.
Read then what science and even most of the public thinks about the issue:
Unless you are not really seeking truth that is, the facts are that Trump and followers continue to live in a fantasy world, and are willing to play with the future of the world economy by denying science.
I tried explaining in the previous post.
If there’s one thing that life has taught me, then that is its totally useless to have an ego. So don’t accuse me of being smug pls.
Hey, why don’t we all chip in and give him one?
Under Clinton we had a surplus, and under Obama the deficient has gone down considerably. What makes you think Trump will be successful in managing the budget? Don’t say “because he’s a smart businessman.” I acknowledge he is good at self-promotion, but that’s not a significant part of the President’s job.
Problem is he looks at things from economic viability point of view. Which is why he agrees with climate change but not with man-made global warming . lol . either Trump is dishonest here or hasn’t done his homework here. You are right on this point imo. I disagree with Trump on this one. I should have mentioned this point in the longer post.
China has already been doing very well producing very cheap solar power btw.
When your zen journey of ego-rejection leads you to admire Donald Trump, I think you made a serious wrong turn somewhere.
