I can think of one difference: The pro-Trump graffiti “appeared outside designated areas for chalk markings.” I.e., it was vandalism.

If you want to stop ALL chalked messages, I completely agree.
But chalkings by students are allowed as a form of expression on the Emory campus. Given that, the administration cannot take actions that chill the Trump supporters’ chalk expressions while permitting other candidates’ chalking to remain unmolested.
It’s that point with which the students disagreed:

Heh, heh. In looking back at what luci wrote, I can see that in my haste I likely misunderstood what I thought was a surprisingly humble admission by him that he was indeed losing it, and that in another twenty years when I was his age I might be losing it as well.
Now I see what was likely his true meaning, which was that in another twenty years or so he may indeed begin to loose touch.
I like my interpretation better, but to avoid confusion I thought it best to acknowledge the meaning that luci most likely intended.
On the one hand, I have mad respect for 'luci’s skills, age notwithstanding.
On the other hand, I’m tickled to see Starvers so sincerely whooshed, and will happily attribute it to his terrible case of the Olds.

You do raise an interesting question though. Why is this tactic effective? Why are the adults letting these children get away with all this tantruming? Why aren’t they being sent to their fucking rooms? These kids are pathetic, and probably aren’t going to grow up to be good for anything, but if anything the adults are worse.
It’s because everyone in a position of authority in this country seems to be deathly afraid of appearing to be politically incorrect. They would rather bow down instantly and follow the path they think political correctness dictates they take rather than deal with the shitstorm that will inevitably follow.
