Actually, I picture him as more of an organ grinder’s monkey. The organ grinder being, of course, Darth Cheney.
This had been kicking around a while, but seems to be getting traction in the news recently:
Trump has been spending a lot of his meager campaign money paying for goods and services from his own companies. So he’s spending his donors’ money on himself. This apparently has just gotten on the news radar because of his latest FEC filings.
Question - I thought this was illegal? I thought the campaign money could not go to you, and that included your companies, just to reduce the shenanigans. Am I missing something?
That was in reference to certain posters here who have opined that it’s “perfectly acceptable” usage and merely a matter of “subjective interpretation”.
OK, I couldn’t restrain myself!
I read it as a brilliant satirical interpretation of the Tangerine Dream himself.
I’ve only skimmed the thread, but I want to Pit anyone actually Pitting Donald Trump!
Sure, he’s an obnoxious asshole, but so are a few million other Americans. They don’t attract much attention because they’re not billionaires. Are you going to blame Trump for being mega-rich? That’s actually the one thing to his credit compared with millions of other American assholes.
It would be fair to Pit him for hoping to be President, a horrid possibility that might knock down the Cheney-Bush election into 2nd-place for biggest tragedy of the 21st century. But Trump, in his heart of hearts, knows he’s unqualified and is now desperately fighting not to get elected. If you want to Pit someone for that sin, Pit GWB who probably has a higher raw IQ than Trump but wasn’t smart enough to understand how horribly unqualified he was for the job.
And don’t Pit Trump’s supporters. The average American is remarkably stupid … and 49% of Americans are even dumber than that!
If you must Pit someone, Pit heinous jackals like Rupert Murdoch and the Koch Brothers. They have deliberately fostered hatred and ignorance to line their own pockets. Now America may reap what these billionaires have sown.
Let’s be optimistic and expect to give Trump a big Thank You in November! If his candidacy leads to a landslide for the forces of reason, sweeping to power in the White House and the Senate and maybe, just maybe, even the House, then Trump will be one of the greatest heroes of our time.

Trump is not being pitted for being rich. He’s being pitted for the obnoxious, disgusting, racist statements he’s made, and for being a total douche bag. You might benefit from reading the thread first.

No, Trump is not that introspective, or frankly that smart. He really does think he’s the Smartest and Bestest Person Ever.

I would stand behind such a pitting. We can pit Trump AND others. At the same time even. No problem.

Hang tight, there’s a time and a place for everything. Come November, when all the above comes to pass, then we can certainly have our grateful ticker-tape parade thread for our fabulous Hero Donald. It will be a yuuuuuuuge thread!

AFAICT, it’s not simply going to his companies.
The idea is, if Hillary Clinton and her crew go somewhere so she can give a big speech to a cheering crowd, then the campaign will pay full price to fly everyone in, and will pay full price to fly them out the next day – and will pay full price to put them all up in a local hotel overnight, and will pay full price for any meals they get from room service, after she speaks at the facility she rented. Which is perfectly legitimate.
Donald Trump does the same thing, no matter what corporation happens to own the hotels in question or the plane they flew on or the facility they rented: said corporation charges full price, and the Trump campaign routinely pays up.
He can’t just take in donor money and hand it to one of his companies; he needs to purchase goods or services from it; otherwise, as you hint, this story would be BIG news instead of just “heh, that’s weird and interesting and cynical” news.

Are we talking Clinton or Trump here?
Having been involved in small scale conference organisation, speaking engagements and seminars before, along with flight arrangements etc…
I can assure you we NEVER pay “full” (list) price for anything. When you are taking this many rooms, making this many bookings or buying this much “stuff” we ALWAYS get a discount or quid pro quo of some sort that binges the price down substantially over the casual or list rate.
If it turns out that the campaign has, indeed, paid “full price” for such things I would very much view it as fraud.

IANAL, but I certainly understand the argument that morally it’s fraud. Would it also legally be fraud?
ETA: I ask not because I’m curious whether the Trump is a fraudster — we already know the answer to that. I’m just curious about legal matters.
For the jurisdiction where I am I wouldn’t want to test the courts on it.
Just arrived in Scotland. Place is going wild over the vote. They took their country back, just like we will take America back. No games!
All 32 voting areas in Scotland voted to stay in the E.U.
Oops.
A Facebook friend of mine re-posted these very Scottish responses from Twitter.
Actual replies from Scots, who, I assume, do not know each other:
“Scotland voted Remain, you weapons-grade plum.”
“Scotland voted Remain you muppet.”
“Scotland voted to stay you numpty.”
“Scotland voted to remain, you tit.”
“Scotland voted overwhelmingly to stay in Europe you toupéd fucktrumpet”
“Scotland voted to stay, you witless fucking cocksplat”
“Scotland voted IN you moron”
“Scotland voted to stay in the EU ya ignorant fool”
"Scotland voted to stay, you half-melted, oversized Claymation figurine. "
“Scotland voted Remain ya fat prick”
“Scotland, literally voted to remain you orange, pompous fool”
“Scotland voted to remain in EU you twat-faced asshat”
Those are the tame ones. The FB post I saw go by today had four quotes – the “cocksplat” one above plus these:
“Scotland voted remain you incompressible jizztrumpet”
“Scotland voted to stay & plan on a second referendum, you tiny fingered, Cheeto-faced, ferret wearing shitgibbon”
“We voted 62% to Remain, you ignorant fuckmuppet. We’re fucking furious at the result.”
If you’re going to cuss, cuss like a Scotsman!
The organ grinder being, of course, Darth Cheney.
To be fair, he only ground up other people’s organs… and only the ones he couldn’t sell on the black market. /s
Q: Has it been mentioned yet that after firing Corey Lewandowski, Team Drumpf quietly hired/appointed both Michelle “Crazy Eyes” Bachmann and Jerry Falwell?

Taking notes.
I’m still trying to work out what “incompressible jizztrumpet” means exactly, but whatever it is, it’s fucking poetic.

I really liked “weapons-grade plum”.
ETA: Maybe “incompressible” was supposed to be “incomprehensible”.
Maybe “incompressible” was supposed to be “incomprehensible”.
Or the writer was noting that the Trump campaign hasn’t stopped hemorrhaging yet.
