Trump scandal and corruption omnibus thread

Which is why I think his failure to attend is merely confirmation that he was as shocked as the rest of us that he actually won. He figured he’d be laying low after the election, sending out tweets about the rigged results from under his bed covers. It’s the same reason that he is completely fumbling the transition; he had no post election plans .

It’s not fair to compare Trump to Obama. Few can live up to that standard.

I would not be at all surprised to hear that Trump had never attended any kind of ceremony on Veteran’s Day in his life. Ever.

I won’t comment on whether or not it’s fair, but I will say that I think it’s appropriate.

He prefers hero’s who don’t get killed. Losers!

Doesn’t he show up at random awards ceremonies, take credit, eat some food, then leave? Or is that just charity events?

Given the way that Trump has felt justified in gaming the system and leveraging his power in the past I have no doubt that he will do so now. To the winner goes the spoils. This is particularly clear when he has said that the “blind trust” that he will entrust his businesses to will be his kids, the same kids that he wants to give security clearances to so they can advise best advise him. Chances are that there will be corruption on a level that will make the graft of teapot dome look like an actual teapot. All perfectly fine and legal according to the Guliani/Bricker analysis, and according to Republicans no where near as high level of treason, bribery and high crimes as lying about a blowjob.

However, This is actually the least of my worries. Chances are over his presidency he will be able to bundle away maybe an additional 20-30 billion for himself and his family. But in a budget of nearly 4 trillion, this is a rounding error. The safety security and solvency of the US will not be affected no matter how much Trump makes off with. His other possible actions as POTUS are far more worrying.

Bricker, I’m going to go through your post sentence by sentence and help you understand what a nasty unhelpful turd you are.

Yes, the interesting question is: Is Giuliani correct? Can our soon-to-be President do whatever he wants ethics-wise? Can he use his power to enrich The Trump Organization and his other rich supporters? Can he turn the keys to our national security over to his friends in the Kremlin?

Obviously impeachment would be an option in saner days, but not for this Congress. Is it true that we are helpless against the new Sociopath-in-Chief?

This is a question where it might be useful if SDMB had a lawyer on duty to help us. But no, not our little Brickhead. Why would he want to make himself useful when he can be an asshole instead?

Hyperbole or not? I don’t know — and like most sane Americans, I don’t care. It’s not as though OP is applying for the position of Attorney General, or even pretending to be a lawyer.

But there goes our little Bricker, like a hunting hound mistaking a dormouse for the fox. **Brickbutt **doesn’t care about the crimes of Trump, nor the fact that a contemptible turd like Giuliani is now going to be in the news everyday. (Is it decided? Is this horrid man going to be Sec’y of State? Or just Att’y General?)

No, Bricker just wants to nitpick on a poor “liberal” poster. Did she misplace a comma also? Why not write an essay about that?

“Supposed” need? LOL. Why, we didn’t know you had a sense of humor, Brickbrain !

So now it’s all about you. We come here, not for concern about America, nor in worry about future Trump crimes, but just to gang up on you. Well then … Count me in!!

The SDMB is inhabited by well-informed intellectuals, so it’s no surprise 90% will be “liberal.” You’re probably the most intelligent right-winger on the Board, and many of us do look to you for intelligent contrarian thinking. Instead you give us posts like this. What a joke.

And please whine and whinge and ask if I’m mocking you. Of course I’m mocking you, moron! You have been disrespectful to me over and over and I respond in kind. If I saw something in you worthy of respect I might change my tune … but it looks like it will be a long wait for that.

He’s just looking for a reasonable compromise, a way to not support Trump and stick his thumb in our eye at the same time. I have every confidence that he will manage it.

That’s because you people are retarded. And no. Not all of us are retarded like you. Some of us actually use are brains.

That’s because you’re an asshole who puts politics over your own fucking mother you retarded asshole. My mom could vote for who every the fuck she wanted and I wouldn’t yell at her. But I guess in your retarded brain it’s POLITICS UBER ALLES!!!

I used to think you were just annoying with almost every single one of your post being a whiny bitch lecture. Now you admit you’re just a terrible person.

Sorry, just wanted to see that again.

Charity events. He shows up, steals the money, and bails.

Well, he wouldn’t be the first, Jack Kennedy had his brother as AG; after which it was made illegal. However, various 19th century presidents, maybe the Adamses, may have included family in government appointments.

When advisors and appointments were murkier waters Jefferson’s private secretary and confidant was his grandson-in-law, Nicholas Trist ( also secretary to Jackson ) Jefferson and Trist were soulmates, sharing a deep hatred of England and a tremendous love for negro slavery.

A combination that came in handy when Trist became Consul to Havana, and was able to bugger up the British war on slave-trading by juggling with American, Portuguese and Cuban ( Spanish ) papers. *

  • The Spanish and thus the Cubans were reluctantly bound by the Mutual Right to Search the Brits used as their main weapon; America would never agree to that implement as a matter of freedom, so American papers allowed Cuban black-birders to carry as many Africans as they could safe from search.

You rang?

Is it a scandal if Mr. Trump tries to take credit for preventing something that wasn’t going to happen?[

No, it’s business as usual.

If the two are mutually exclusive, there’s not gonna be a lot to post in this thread that isn’t about corruption.

Jesus, you fucking people.

I expect the parts of his administration that are not corruption will be part suppression and part incompetence.
