Michael Cohen agrees to terminate the 2016 hush agreement with Stormy Daniels. Cohen is requesting that Daniels repay the $130K.
Michael Avenatti, apparently surprised by the move, said his “first guess” was that Cohen was trying to avoid having to be deposed, or Trump having to be deposed. However, since Cohen seems to have flipped on Trump, it seems unlikely to me that this maneuver is intended to keep Trump out of a deposition.
If the Daniels lawsuit was originally intended to get Daniels released from the hush agreement, and Cohen is now agreeing to release her, doesn’t that kind of take the wind out of the lawsuit? Did Avenatti just “win” a fight that he wanted to drag out for a while longer? If the lawsuit is over, no one is putting a camera in front of Avenatti anymore. And I say this as an admirer of Avenatti.
