Trump Supporters are Flawed People

When HRC announced that she would fight to raise the minimum wage for all, which of the three above did she fail to do?

She failed to consider that many people don’t want the minimum wage raised, or to exist at all. Well, she probably considered it, but you get the idea. Lots of people have legitimate disagreements with Clinton’s platform. Disagreements with the platform can be had without a person being stupid, a racist, a misogynist, or otherwise deplorable.

I think this is a representative example of the sentiment you’re expressing. I also think it’s completely wrong. You’ve already acknowledged that different people could weigh different outcomes differently. How do you reconcile these two ideas?

I posted this back in July, but I think it presents a rational basis for a person to support Trump, if they so chose:

I think Trump winning would be a net plus but only if measured a particular way. It’s not because of any particular policy position or anything though. I think Trump will be ineffective, so whatever BS he pushes will likely not be enacted and will not have far reaching consequence. I think Clinton will actually be effective so what she pushes has a good chance to come to pass.

I think the way most people are comparing the two misses this reality - it’s not just about who’s policy or other positions are better or worse, it also matters who will be more effective in enacting their agenda.

So evaluating the two based on expected return and not simply based on the merits of their positions, and given that I want the federal government to do as little as possible, it tips the scales for Trump. Trump is still a dumbass though.

But beyond the idea of wanting nothing to get done, I also happen to agree with the purported judicial philosophy, as well as the possibly genuine position on firearms.
