Trump supporters: would you work for him?

Agreed. There’s been plenty of chatter how outside of the White House, there’s no real home for staffers who worked for Trump. Part of this is because it isn’t like there are lobbying firms associated with the Trump way of thinking, that reject the old-boy network.

Outside DC, I can see that working for Trump means something in some circles. Like, if you want to go to various red states and work for certain secretaries of state to suppress Democratic voters, it would be resume gold to work in this White House.

Not a supporter, but FUCK YEAH!

I’m embarrassed to admit how many times that income would be over what I eek by on now. And I’ve worked so many shit jobs and been fired so often, it would be No Step for a Stepper.

I could get all 4 of my project cars finished after a month or two.

Holla, holla, get that dolla!

Taking that “dozens,” claim at face value, and remembering that there are over 2,000 staffers assigned to the Executive Office of the President, my point remains: the practice ay exist, but is not nearly so common as to be considered a given, and assumed without being specified.

Same objection. There are thousands of EOP jobs. It’s true that high-profile jobs are naturally political; the President appoints people that support his political aims. But an explicitly political angle is not the case for the vast majority of the jobs in play.

Of the thousands of people who work for the Executive Office of the President, I think my OP lays out pretty clearly that the person would be a senior adviser to the President, as opposed to Chief of Printing at the Office of Management and Budget.

I redirect your attention to the fact that none other than John Kelly is calling to recruit you for this position. Do you think General Kelly would call to recruit one of those many “behind the scenes” types that you are referring to?

ETA: all of this rules lawyering of the scenario is really pretty tiresome. I wish you’d just say whether you’d take the job – maybe White House Counsel given your expertise – and quit nitpicking the boring parts of this discussion.

Trump isn’t really any of my political goals even as a Republican. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d leap because it is among the worst workplaces in the country. There’s important work that needs doing. It’s not better if someone even less qualified and/or a true believer in Trump’s agenda takes the job. I’d work the inattentiveness and intellectual laziness of the boss to carve out room to work. I’d do my best to shield the civil servants and SES below me from the crap; we’ll need experienced people still in place when the environment improves. I’d probably end up fired and an enemy of the far right on social media before Jan 2021 So be it.

Duty is heavy.

The major factor I was thinking of is “does the position qualify for the insider trading immunity our Congressional / Senate overlords have granted themselves?” I understand that some other staff beyond actual senators and reps do indeed enjoy that privilege.

Because if so, screw the salary, I’ll work for free!

Donald J. Trump is with us, has fought for us, and will win for us. And I will do the same for him in 2020

I would not.

I’d take the Supreme Court nomination, though.
