Forgot to add, the “black job” thing is blowing up on her Xitter page. Whole lotta people are apparently pissed about that. Seems like the Harris campaign could do some effective targeted ads with that.

His base is always enthusiastic. They are also not enough to win. He might not know that but the peopl he pays to be around him do.
It was essentially a no risk shot to the arm for his base. He’s not going to lose any significant number of voters by being racist. The Republicans who might have been offended will end up voting voting for him anyway. He just needs Republicans to vote and Democrats to not vote.
I don’t think that’s true. There are lots of double-haters out there. Each candidate’s job is to get those haters to hate them less than the opponent.
If Harris can amplify this along with message of “In case you forgot, Trump is SUPER RACIST,” she might persuade a chunk of those haters to hate Trump more than her. That can depress his vote, and/or increase her vote.
Except this shit-show is likely to motivate even more unlikely voters to get out and vote against him. Turnout will be the deciding factor in this election, and he just handed the Democrats a big win in motivating unlikely voters.
This won’t motivate anyone who hasn’t been motivated already. Trump has been campaigning for about 10 years straight now. He’s a 100% known quantity.
Disagree. People who were lukewarm to Biden may need a bit of prompting to get out and vote for Harris. This kind of stuff is motivating.

From what little I can see, the undecideds/unmotivateds trend young and - uh - not terribly interested in politics. This kind of press - “He went to THEIR house, apparently for the sole purpose of INSULTING THEM?!” - seems to have as good a chance as anything to get their attention and make them thinking, “Hmm, maybe it is time we gave a shot to someone OTHER THAN another really old rich white guy.”
Who knows? Today it’ll be “OMG Trump said something racist that was naughty” and tomorrow it’ll be “OMG that black woman athlete is too outspoken, I’m going to vote for Trump now!”. This kind of fragility makes for mercurial voters.
Or, alas, in the case of some of the young and disengaged, get them thinking “man, that’s so DNGAF based!” 
So, is there no point in trying to motivate them? Or the last news cycle wins? Or is “Who knows?” the extent of analysis you are willing to offer?

Voter turn out in 2020 was about 66%, the highest it’s been in a long time. Much higher than it was in 2016, when it was about 62%. So clearly something can motivate at least some of these unlikely voters to finally vote. That 4% increase was enough to doom Trump.
There’s a pool of about 36% of Americans eligible to vote, who didn’t vote last time. Even a small fraction of them will be decisive if they get out to vote. And this was one of the most mind-bogglingly bad performances for a man known for bad performances.
With Harris in the race, less than there used to be.
Disappearing “double haters”: Most Americans like Trump or Harris
With Harris in the race, that double hater percentage has fallen to 8%, down from around 20% in previous polls of a Trump vs. Biden race, NYT polling guru Nate Cohn writes
I think Trump and his advisors are shitting themselves over Harris. They were likely thinking:
- “dammit, she’s BLACK! What’r we gonna do?”
- “okay, calm down - we’re going to expose her as NOT BLACK! Yeah, that’s the ticket!”
- “I am sure going to this black reporters event will be the best place to expose Harris as NOT BLACK - they will all thank us for our wisdom in exposing her fakery, and then report it to the black folk, and they will then vote for us instead of her!”
I think he was hoping to replicate the success he had with denigrating Warren when she claimed to have Cherokee heritage.
