Trump to attend Black journalists' convention

Trump and the Republicans aren’t doing this to affect the Black vote, they’re doing it to energize the White vote. It’s a feeding frenzy right now of conservatives doubling down on the racism to trigger liberals.

Trump is going after the young black male vote, 18 to 35, but he messes it up sometimes, and the goal is not to win that vote.

Fine an anecdotal one-off story. That doesn’t really mean anything. The Republican candidate just went to a black journalists’ convention, and hit the same talking points he’s been using for years now.

I’m explaining why he is doing this.

To be very clear, you are trying very hard to convince us that young black males 18 to 35 are both bigots and misogynists.

On the other hand, insincerity is the New Right.

Well, a percentage are, just like white males that vote for him. Also, you need to remember that a huge part of them are conservative, Southern Baptists.

The black diaspora found comfort in the church, as explained in the book I linked to. That church was based on white ideas of society so yes, even today there is a bias among Black Americans of women’s role, and the culture is somewhat misogynistic.

That can be clearly seen in music as well.

Why he’s doing it is because he’s a racist sexist prick with no self-control and he can’t handle any kind of media interaction other than fawning praise without descending into childish insults. There’s no strategy here. Just the flailings of an insane old man.

Who in this thread said anything about a landslide for Harris?

Yeah, nobody in their right mind thinks it’s anything much more that a coin flip right now. It went from “we’re doomed” to “we have a reasonable chance.”

Either he thought this would go well and help him or he really doesn’t want to win.

No one said it, but the vibe seems to be that oh Harris is black so all black people will vote for her. That when Trump makes his racist flubs it hurts him.

I’m explain that it is a strategy, with flubs, but there is a point to it and that what this board considers flubs are not.

Ok got it so now we are going to nitpick this.

It’s not an accurate representation of the board’s mood. In fact, quite a misrepresentation, i.e., a complete lie. That said , I actually do understand the other points you are making and think there may be some validity to them.

I think that “the vibe” you feel that you’re picking up is being filtered through your own incoming belief; as you noted, “no one said it.” Please stop assuming things about other posters.

As noted by others: it feels to me like actually are making some good (or at least potentially valid) points. But, you’re also insisting on being combative and assumptive, and still haven’t provided actual cites for what you’ve claimed in this thread about how blacks view Harris (or Obama, or Trump).

And so they did. Excellent.

I imagine that for every vote he gains, he convinces one unlikely voter to get out and vote for Harris. “You aren’t Black enough” is still a racist attack, and I can’t see blatant racism being an overall winning strategy in the Black community.

This comes uncomfortably close to calling another poster a liar. You can make your points and avoid doing this going forward, so please do so. Thanks.

I gave polls before, I not going to do it now, and I don’t think I should have to. The Republican candidate is backing up what I’ve been saying.

He went to a black convention, knowing he would probably be grilled by at least two women he didn’t know. He did his Trump shtick, which works with people, especially men, white or black.

He stuck to the talking points he’s been saying, trying to appeal to this wedge. I have explained what the wedge is and how it exists and what the end goal likely is.

Moderating:

If you’re not prepared to offer cites in the thread in which you are arguing, then it’s time to stop arguing. You’ve made your points. Time to stop repeating them.

I don’t recall you doing that, you kept citing, without cites, media that you claimed supported your position. After someone else posted polls you came back and claimed victory.
