Trump to visit Mexico's President today

I’m more interested in what the President of Mexico will say.

Conman? She’s always seemed loud and one redneck short of a trailer park.

Mexican Presidents don’t run for reelection. What this does to Pena Nieto in the polls doesn’t really matter.

I want to know why Trump didn’t insist on there being an American flag on the podium behind them when they held their joint press conference, there was only a Mexican flag. Why does Trump hate America?

Nieto got rolled. He should have said there’s nothing to discuss. Slow translation, I don’t think he was expecting to be taking questions.

The whole thing was a plus for Trump.

It’s <Zen master>, actually.

Trump was probably very surprised by the trip. He thought he was going to New Mexico.

Are there any news feeds for this extraordinary visit?

Nieto says otherwise.

Sounds like Loser Donald expected he could browbeat Nieto into acquiescence, failed, and tried to save face by claiming the topic never came up.

Sad!

Now I am wondering in what other country he’ll turn up next.

Israel seems to be a popular destination for candidates, although I am sure Bibi will be washing his one hair that day.

The Mexican President is saying that he made his position on the wall and payment for it clear from the very beginning of the meeting.

Trump, the international statesman, bald-facedly lied on the world stage, standing next to the man who knows he is lying as he is lying.

Please, please let there be recordings.

There might be. But would anyone care? Most of us know Trump is lying. We a) already hate the guy or b) we will support him regardless. The number of people who will change their opinion or vote based on another lie has to be pretty small.

Correction: her name is Conway.

Since he went out in public without pissing on Nieto’s shoes, I agree. The former Mexican president was on CNN and said that he wouldn’t have had the meeting unless Trump apologized for the nasty comments.

To tell you the truth, I think the whole thing was planned to distract from Trump’s big speech on immigration tonight. Way to not focus on the message, Don the Con.

I wonder if Trump apologized for real or “regretted” the comments? And did he acknowledge they were nasty?

Who gives a shit what Nieto said? Could anyone seriously not see this coming? Seriously?

Reporter: So what did you guys talk about?

Donald: "I went in their privately and I said, listen up, amigo, you’re gonna build that fuckin’ wall or we’ll invade the Baja Peninsula and take that, too. Comprende? He agreed.

Nieto: WHAT?! You never – I never said that!

Donald: Yes, you did, lyin little Nieto. That’s what you said!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I mean, did anyone NOT see this coming?!

Nieto absolutely got played, and he absolutely lost, and depending on how Trump spins this over the next few days, Donald Trump may have absolutely, positively scored the most humiliating victory by an American over a Mexican since the War of 1846.

Why in the hell did Nieto even think of inviting Donald to Mexico?! It just doesn’t make sense unless you just want to embarrass the hell out of yourself and your countrymen.

The Republican nominee for President of the United States just got openly called a liar by the President of the world’s 10th largest country, was shown to be a coward and a weakling, has lost his #1 populist point (“we are building this wall and Mexico is paying for it”)… and his detractors are spinning this as a win for Trump which not even his campaign is capable of doing?

What bizarro-world is this?

There’s a great chance that Nieto taped the conversation (because why wouldn’t he?) and it will leak in the next few days.

He “invited” both candidates as a political move, saying “hey would-be Presidents of US, you gotta reckon with your biggest neighbor”. Expecting, as a reasonable man in a sane universe, that Hillary might likely take him on to shore up her Latino community bona fides (*but see later) while Donald would thow out a lame excuse. The “expecting like a reasonable man in a sane universe” bit betrayed him, though, and when called on it he had to take it like a man :stuck_out_tongue:

(*)And, the “but” part being, that the alternate-timeline of Hillary taking the initiative to visit Mexico first, would have a problem in that it would be denounced as pandering, and the alt-Right would be posting all over the place about how that was an apology tour.

Trump was not representing the United States. Formally, this was an event of the Mexican president’s office only. It would have been inappropriate for them to show the sovereign courtesies accorded to an actual foreign head of state, minister, or ambassador.

Earlier this evening, I saw the crowd chanting “Mexico! Mexico!” during the, if you will, opening act, regarding who will pay for the wall. To me, it sounded a lot like they were all saying “Sieg Heil”.
