What am I talking about? What are you talking about!
Of course no other Democrat has repeated it. It was idiotic statement, regardless of the fifteen sentences that preceded it, and the ninety that came after it.
He said it and it was dumb. Dumb because it came across as arrogant and condescending - ‘If it weren’t for us, you wouldn’t have shit. We’ll tell you what you deserve or should be grateful for’.
Never-mind that if it weren’t for business and the act of business, there wouldn’t be money to build dick-all to begin with.
Please. It was arrogant beyond believe. I don’t blame other Democrats for not repeating it.
It gave the Republicans an awesome sound bite though, that resonated with the people who heard it ala ‘I can see Russia from my house!’.
Except that’s made up and what he said is crystal clear.

Besides this being a nut pick, AFAIK both Flint and Stern are not known for being predators or forcing themselves over women.

Bill Clinton was (and might still be, for all I know).
I think you have problems following, the subject of my complaint was that it had diddle squat to do with Trump, and Bill Clinton is not running.
And now we can see that you also want to avoid dealing with the justification you have for voting for Trump, so now that we have seen conservative republicans tell you how Trump is a bigot, a racist, a xenophobe, and sexist you still need to justify why you or other conservatives are still voting for him.
Trump is reprehensible, no doubt about it. But Trump voters feel Clinton is reprehensible in other ways, and on the balance worse than Trump. And for all the scare talk, Trump isn’t Nehemiah Scudder.
Of course not, but the reality is that for evangelicals Trump has promised to have Judges appointed that will end Roe vs Wade.
And there is also the environmental issue, Trump will have to give to the Republicans their wishes and gut the EPA, thing is that when Scalia died he was expected to be the deciding vote to end the new rules to limit CO2 emissions.
Yes, a Trump presidency can be worse and even economists do not like the crazy stuff Trump is proposing with trade and taxes. So, yes, Trump is no Nehemiah Scudder, but if we allow him Trump will make a big mess that will end up preparing the land for guys like Scudder.
I am a business owner. I heard Obama say “You didn’t build that.” The first time, and the first dozen times I heard it, I heard it out of context. I thought, “What an odd thing to say.”
When I heard the full context, I found myself agreeing entirely.
I may have put up all the walls in my shop myself, but I did not build the roads or the power lines or the water lines, or the gas lines.
I may have trained all of my employees myself, but I did not provide for their health, nutrition, or education.
Society has built quite a bit of infrastructure both in objects and people for entrepreneurs like myself to take advantage of. I have quite a bit to thank from those who did “build that.”
You are taking a snippet of a sentence out of context. Now that you know the full context, and that those who have built their own businesses agree with his assessment, I assume you will, in good faith, stop perpetuating this lie. Thank you.
My rebuttals would be, oh, I don’t know, maybe everything Trump has ever said?
Conspiracy theorist should be added. The Moon landings were faked! Believe me! So true! And Rosie O’Donnell is a fat pig and Hillary is such a nasty woman, but I have more respect for women than anyone in history!!! Oh yeah, just look at that woman who accused me! She’s too ugly for me to grab her pussy. I only grab the finest pussy!!!
Get lost. I don’t have to justify shit to you or them.
I didn’t. And I’m a small business owner as well.
You must have missed my comparison of it to “I can see Russia from my house” made earlier. The same way Democrats used that and other fictionalized quotes made by Palin to rally around an idea (that she’s an idiot) myself and other Republicans used Obama’s saying as a rallying cry against big and ever expanding government influence, control, and hubris.
Wrong, maybe, but it made for an awesome rallying cry. And he actually said it, it didn’t have to be made up.
Oh wow, so you built the road to your business, ran the electric lines, the gas lines, the sewer lines. You raised your employees from infants, providing them with the education, nutrition and environment to grow into a skilled workforce?
I am very impressed. I was lazy and just took advantage of the things that society had already provided for me.
No, I did not miss that comparison. But, very few democrats, and even fewer that actually pay attention to things, thought that Palin ever actually said that. It was a joke by Tina Faye, and it was a only a little bit funny (Of course, “a little bit funny” is about the best SNL ever gets). What she actually said was that being as close as she was to russia meant that she had foreign policy experience. Tina’s joke is actually less of an actual claim to relevant experience than Sarah’s.
So, when you say “he actually said it,” You are willing to completely ignore the context in which it was said? If anything I saw the republicans repetition on it as a rallying cry against infrastructure.
Well, you obviously don’t have to – but why phrase it that way? If somebody asked me to justify my choice, I’d be utterly delighted to do so; I’d get to make a case for my candidate; I’d shout it from the rooftops.
I’m voting this way for a reason; if someone who disagrees with my choice wants to hear my reasoning, I’d jump at the chance. Why wouldn’t I? Why wouldn’t you?
No, that’s not what I saying. I’m saying that instead of fictionalized quotes Democrats use to rally and consolidate their base and get them believing in a theme, Republicans could and did the same with an actual quote he said. Regardless of the context.
And yes, I get the context. It’s been explained ad nauseam, infinitum.
Ha! I don’t think that’s what they were going for. In my opinion at least.
