It was an insult, but no, not THE insult. It formed part of the overall insult.
Yeah, pretty much. In my opinion, choosing to specify that “about half,” of Trump’s supporters are anything is dubiously unwise. “Some,” of Trump’s supporters would (again, in my opinion) been a safer statement; this allows comment without tarring the people who support Trump for reasons like, “Because we’re tired of being told by the Left that we’re backwards.”
Yes, they were, but every single candidate for President in my lifetime has said something that his opponent has used out of context against him. In other words, that’s not an accusation that reveals the perfidy of Trump, but simply the reality of politicking.
What? Oh, possibly there’s been some sort of miscommunication: they didn’t need to imagine a word of that; it’s what simply happened. All apologies for any mixup.
Obama directly attacked racists. Claiming that he didn’t do the same thing Clinton did is dishonest.
Clinton was not sunk by the deplorables comment. The only reason to feel insulted by that comment is if you yourself were actually deplorable, since she gave an out.
And let’s be clear. Bricker attacked people who were upset about Trump winning. He is a deplorable. He is deliberately dishonest in all of his arguments. He never lays out exactly what he thinks and uses trickery.
And here he is once again defending Trump. No good person can do that. I just got through ending a friendship of at least 15 years over this. People who defend Trump are deplorable, and Bricker is fighting because he knows he’s deplorable and so needs to fight.
Stop arguing with him. Treat him like garbage until he stops being garbage. Stop pretending evil people are good.
There are not many infinite quantities in the universe but your sanctimonious posturing has to be in the running to be considered one. Has it ever entered your simple mind that what Bricker is saying is actually good advice. You fools on this board honestly think that you win an argument with people by insulting them and attacking them.
Now if you believe that actually works keep at it. For all of the intelligence that the left supposedly has a monopoly on what good has it done them? We are reminded time and again of the left’s superior productivity, education, industry, morality, goodness of being, IQ, compassion and yet with all those superior traits what does the left control?
The Supreme Court? The presidency? The Senate? The House? The states?
No. So perhaps you should step off your soap box and listen to a man who as an attorney not only is formally educated but also needs the ability to persuade a jury. You don’t persuade people by telling them how vile they are or how stupid or how disgusting or a shithead or deplorable. Those are all counterproductive tactics. Hypocrisy is also another counterproductive tactic.
You folks even cling to unlikely explanations when more intelligent and educated people offer more likely explanations. You honestly think every black, Asian, or Hispanic that voted for Trump is a white supremacist? You think every woman who votes for Trump is an anti-woman misogynist? Get out of your cave and talk to real people who are actually comfortable talking frankly with you, which might be hard to find if you act 1/10 of the way you act here with your sermonizing, and listen for a change. Know it all troglodytes are more dangerous to America than the average Trump voter.
Imagine for a moment that Trump had said, hey, when it comes to the Mexicans who are entering this country – well, tons of them are bringing crime in general, and drugs in particular; and, oh, yeah, they’re rapists. But let me quickly Give An Out: some of them are good people! Ha-HA! I gave an out, so there’s no reason to feel insulted unless you’re one of those rapists who smuggles drugs! Tee-Hee!

How about the archetypal racist who (a) rails against blacks in general, saying that most of them are worthless parasites with criminal tendencies – but then (b) adds, of one of them in particular, that, well, this guy must be One Of The Good Ones, see. Does that racist get to play the “I Gave An Out” game, since an individual who’d be insulted by his comment must therefore be one of the worthless parasites?
Or is that not how it works, because that’d be insane?
I don’t disagree with that. But to label people you don’t know racist, deplorable, EVIL!!!111!!!, Nazi, etc. because they voted for a con man who many believed is counterproductive.
But back on topic, I wonder, in a year from now if you were to ask random voting age Americans who Jefferson Davis was, how many would know?

Don’t you see the difference here. One insulted some, the other insulted first all and then amended it some.
You do realize that would require another place to let you leave to, right? Generally, every other place would require you to bring something other than your outrage at the joke occupying the White House right now. Also, from what I’m seeing, too many other places are emulating that twerp and his bigoted supporters now.
