Trump voters prefer Jefferson Davis as president to Barack Obama

Ditto to both paragraphs.

Tired? I’ve only used triggered twice or so and one of those was in regard to another poster who said it first. And snowflake maybe a half-dozen times over the last three or four months.

I have to chuckle at crap like this. You’re just as wrong about the way I go through life as you continue to be in your conviction despite glaring evidence to the contrary that I’m looking for some conservative strongman to come charging in to save me. If you were a true conservative you’d know that as opposed to our liberal counterparts who are constantly trying to pound square pegs into the round holes of life, we conservatives take things for what they are and make the best of them. As a result I work hard, take care of myself, and derive enjoyment from a wide range of activities and pastimes. I behave the way I do on this board because of the way its posters have behaved toward me since the very first day I arrived here and inadvertently revealed a glimmer of conservative thought. Trust me, you have no idea what the real life me is like.

Broad brushing what groups? Groups such as radical leftists, antifa, or some of the nuts on this board?

If you are talking about leftists in general perhaps I’m a bit lazy with qualifying adjectives by leaving them out of some of my posts. That said, the level of intellectual dishonesty I have to deal with on this board doesn’t inspire my most nuanced writing.

Yeah, I’m not the person who advocates criminal activity. I’m not the person who calls people racist, bigoted, or a freaking Nazi over support of free speech. I’m dealing with real deplorables in some of these threads and it’s tiring.

Even in non pit threads we have dumb asses saying I’m a Nazi supporter because I rightfully point out that when two groups come armed and willing to fight both are to blame. Bats and clubs, like a car, are deadly weapons. It’s tragic but not unexpected that fatalities and serious injuries have occurred as violence predictably and probably desirably escalated.

So, I’m truly sorry that I am not the paragon of patience in these threads when I’m dealing with dishonest people. Some of them. Some of them like iiandyiiii are definitely biased but seem honest. There’s some nuance for you.

That’s an interesting question: Is there a common method used to distinguish responses with legitimate answers from ones where the respondents are just screwing around? I’ve seen longer surveys include questions just to make sure that people are paying attention (as well as the PPP poll about bombing Agrabah), but I’ve never seen that sort of thing used for a simple, one-or-two question survey. I think I have seen a few questions that first ask factual questions about the matter being considered (the one in particular I remember is from the 60s or so, and so may not still be representative) as a sanity-check, but I have no idea what the state of the art is like.

I suppose slavery and centuries of white supremacy were in response to liberal violence? Or only recently did white supremacism become a response to liberal violence? Is every bad thing the fault of liberals, or just modern bad things?

Don’t you think the people there carrying swastika flags and chanting “Heil Trump” might have contributed just a little bit?

This is hilarious. Because you know how the Republicans gained control of all those things? By insulting people. But not with some heavily-qualified passing remark, oh no - by making libel and slander of their political enemies a wholesale industry.

So here, apparently, is what the Democrats should do: insult their opponents more. Every Democratic politician and talking head should take every opportunity to imply, suggest or state outright that the only reason people vote Republican is for selfish reasons and that only Democrats are “real Americans”. Start up several cable news channels and buy up whole networks of radio and television stations and fill them with lies and insinuations about non-Democrats. Be sure to suppress or distort any news that reflects favourably on them and amplify anything that can be used in any way to make them look bad. And any and all insane theories about the Republicans (like, for example, them running kiddie porn rings out of a pizza place) should be mentioned prominently in the news reports, because after all, “people” are saying it!

But that’s not all! Heavily fund a number of PACs whose sole purpose is to write legislation favorable to the Democratic party platform and pay politicians to implement it even if they don’t understand it. Fund other groups to work to actively disenfranchise groups of voters most likely to vote Republican, and work to destroy any group that is facilitating voter registration that includes those groups, then claim this was done to prevent “voter fraud” even though the number of legitimate voters “accidentally” removed from the rolls outnumbers the actual number of fraud cases by several orders of magnitude. And don’t forget to cut back on voting hours and the number of polling stations in areas least likely to vote Democrat! If those Republicans really wanted to vote, they’d be willing to stand in line for several hours like all good patriotic Americans. It’s important to do all this in order to protect freedom and democracy.

And after all that, if the Dems have time to put together a platform that’s fine, but really they should just adopt a position of absolute obstructionism and claim that whatever the Republicans are doing is bad and that they want to stop it.

The problem isn’t that Clinton or the Democrats are mean. The problem is that they’re pikers compared to the professional slanderers of the right. Clearly the Democrats need to raise their game.

Or, you know, yes.

I know - it’s terrible how angrily the left react to people peacefully marching down the street carrying torchesand calling for the persecution and/or death of millions of innocent Americans. I mean, it’s not like there’s any history of groups of armed right-wingers beating up unarmed liberals in the American south before now.

Why am I not surprised that your worldview continues to be diametrically opposed to reality?

We don’t need to know what kind of fraud you are in real life. We have the benefit of insight into how/what you really think.

Lonely old man who yells at the TV?

I will know that democrats have gotten serious about responding to voter dieefnhanchiemsnet when they actualyl start going after absentee ballots. That’s where all the fraud is, so is very justifiable for election integrity, and it is also how a large number of republicans vote, so it would work out well for democrats in getting and holding onto office.

If the Democrats stop being Bricker’s “Scrubs”, and stop playing the game with sportsmanlike conduct, and instead play the game as no holds barred, winning is everything attitude that he indicates that the republicans have taken, then we can win too. We can win elections anyway, dunno if we actually “win”, as the methods that the republicans used to win are what enabled trump into office, and no matter how many house legislatures my part holds, no matter how many governorships, no matter the amount of congressional power, if our methods allow a man like trump to take power, then we have lost.

True, although then the Republicans get to complain about how Democrats are going after overseas military personnel.

Democrats aren’t completely without their machinations - there’s this bullshit, for example, although it remains small potatoes compared to the organized nationwide campaign of disinformation and voter suppression by the Republicans.

But yes, this is the wider problem - if the Democrats play fair, they lose, and if they play dirty, the country loses. But it’s losing anyway, so why not try?

I think Bernie Sanders would beg to differ with you.

Clinton’s “deplorables” remark, although it wasn’t the one big problem that sunk her bid for the presidency, certainly was a gaff. Not that it wouldn’t have been true to say “a significant portion of Trump’s supporters are racists, sexists, homophobes, etc.” But I believe the remark had a galvanizing effect on Trump’s supporters, thanks probably to the way it was spun by Fox News and their ilk.

If someone were to say “half of liberals are sexists, racists, homophobes, bigots and pig-fuckers,” it would probably piss off 100% of liberals, even those of us who aren’t pig-fuckers (I swear).
(Or, what Bricker said in post 201.)

I seriously hope the Democrats and progressives do learn this lesson before they screw up their next chance. They need to consider that in 2020 they likely won’t be running against Trump, but against some arguably more broadly tolerable opponent. God help them if they’ve over-invested in righteous indignation and trite “have you seen the other guy” slogans.

Oh for fucks sake! The man has offered to vote against his own party for the betterment of your country for the second time around, and this is how you respond.
You’re an ass.

Yeah, I can be. I respect that he didn’t vote for Trump. I can’t see how anyone would struggle with the decision, though.

You might find this interesting,if you missed it the first time.

It is not at all clear to me how much credit someone can claim for not doing something that he *did *do.

Consider how Dump’s own home county voted - the people who best know him for the sleazebag he is…

Queens - his “home town” (despite his pretenses of being a Wall Street/Manhattan bigwig - they laughed at him and called him a hick there)
Clinton: 473,289, 75.1%
Trump: 138,550, 21.99%

Brooklyn
Clinton: 595,086, 79.25%
Trump: 133,653, 17.8%

Bronx
Clinton: 318,403, 88.4%
Trump: 34,424, 9.56%

In the full post, he scrapped that ballot and got another one and voted for Clinton. Your snipping here was not reasonable.

You don’t think it’s “reasonable” to call him out about being loud and proud ever since of reversing a very close decision that shouldn’t have been a decision at all? And do please note that his purported revulsion toward Trump is merely based on his boorishness, not his corruption or treason or racism, and certainly not on his policies.

It’s possible to try so hard to be fair to someone that you wind up being unfair to yourself and everyone else. A lot of people here do that to him when it isn’t deserved. I really don’t get it.

Wow, you are something else. Here’s the rest of the post:

It’s like praising a psychopathic child for not torturing the dog again this week.

Factual accuracy is indeed “something else” than your habitual supercilious both-sides-ism, isn’t it?
