I see Clinton as being very weak on foreign policy. As far as I can tell, she has no clear plan on how to handle ISIS, Iran, North Korea, and the numerous other threats around the world. I thought her husband was very weak on foreign policy as well, favoring political solutions over taking a stand and doing what needed to be done. The key difference here is that the world was going through a rare lull during Bill’s presidency and his weak foreign policy wasn’t all that much of a detriment to his presidency. Right now, we need someone who is very strong on foreign policy. And Hillary ain’t it. Not even close.
Domestically, the U.S. has been in a slump for a very long time. The economy has always had good times and bad times and has tended to oscillate between the two. For the last decade and a half or so though, there hasn’t been a boom for most Americans. The economy is still oscillating, but when it swings good, corporations and the top 1 percent see the boom. The middle class and lower class don’t see it. Salaries have stagnated. Benefits like health insurance have been getting worse and worse, charging more and covering less. With the economy in a continual slump, many folks are underemployed and there is never a shortage of employees for most jobs. Corporations know that they don’t have to provide better salaries and better benefits, so they don’t.
Clinton claims to be for the poor people, because she wants their vote, but she doesn’t have a freaking clue what it is like for poor people, and she has absolutely no economic plan whatsoever for the poor and middle classes.
Clinton is a classic sleazeball politician. She caters to the needs of the rich who fund her campaigns, and claims to be for the poor and for women and for any other group she thinks she can get votes from (she’s even said that she’ll release all of the government UFO files so that she can get votes from the internet whack-jobs).
To be fair, I thought Bill was a sleazeball politician as well (and apparently I wasn’t alone - I wasn’t the one who came up with the nickname Slick Willy). However, Bill seemed to have one very good redeeming trait. He was very good for the economy.
Hillary hasn’t impressed me with her economic sense. Maybe she’ll do better once she gets into office, but I’m not seeing it. In fact, I’m not seeing any redeeming qualities in her at all.
I think Trump is popular because he’s not a sleazeball politician. He’s not more of the same crap that has got us into this mess.
Unfortunately, he’s Trump.
So that leaves us with the choice of a complete sleazeball politician who will be the worst thing for this country for both foreign and domestic reasons, or we can choose a freaking cartoon character who is much better suited to reality TV shows than politics.
This is shaping up to be a Trump vs. Clinton election. All I can say is God help us all. We’re completely screwed either way.
That’s my 2 cents on it anyway.
