Trump won't rule out 3rd term

I agree. But still, it angers me that they would even suggest it.

What if the Supreme Court rules that the 22nd is null and void, as it was clearly intended to only apply to Democrat candidates for president? So they rule that Trump is allowed a 3rd term.

If the Supreme Court is so out to lunch as to accept that partisan of an argument, we’re already living in an autocracy even if the trappings of democratic governance remain.

The armed forces will do as they are told.

We’re already living in an autocracy

You had me at this part.

I fear you may be correct.

If the Constitution doesn’t matter anymore, then no state is obligated to acknowledge the sovereignty of Trump or the federal government.

And I’m VERY afraid this is where we’re heading. After that, all bets are off. It will depend on who the military supports; feds or states. And if the latter, red states or blue states.

There is another scenario that hasn’t been mentioned. Investigations into the 2020 election are just getting started. Without a doubt, it will be determined that there was massive fraud and the election was undeniably stolen from Trump. There can be no other outcome from this DOJ. Therefore, Trump was denied his rightful second term so he must be allowed to have another to take its place. The Supreme Court will say that since this is a truly unprecedented event that is not covered in the Constitution, their hands are tied but it sounds fair to them. Consensus from the GOP will be that just for this unique situation, Trump should get another term, then things can go back to normal after that. No amendments, no sleight-of-hand people shuffling, just an executive order.

Morally, no. Practically, they don’t have a massive army and nuclear weapons. They’ll do what they are told, or be smashed.

“The president,” [House Speaker Mike Johnson] said, "is trolling members of the other party when he talks publicly about the topic… The Trump 2028 cap is one of the most popular that’s ever been produced. And he has a good time with that, trolling the Democrats, whose hair is on fire about the very prospect,” he told reporters on Capitol Hill.

I doubt the GOP wants to start a nuclear war on US soil in order to get a senile 83-year-old another term. Especially considering that our largest nuclear stockpile is in a blue state.

Irrelevant, as they don’t have the codes needed to use them. And probably actually care about killing people.
