Even if we assume he’s still in the land of the living, and not suffering from complete dementia, in 2028, I think that the constitutional and legal barriers to attempting to run for a third term are too great.
I would not be at all surprised if he tries to somehow hold onto power anyway, though I’m not going to speculate on how, and I hope against hope that he would fail at that.

I think he will try, and will be foiled early by court orders preventing him. He will then rant about biased and conflicted judges.
My question isn’t about whether it works or not, or whether he will be successful or not.
No, he will not. However, he will pretend he intends to as long as possible because he doesn’t want to become a lame duck.
Successfully, no. But that is mostly an aspirational hope. It depends on people actually stopping him, which has been in short supply these past few years.
By the way, I will count “I wasn’t going to, but too many people are demanding that I deserve at least one more term, and who am I to go against America Itself?” as him running.
Also, I suspect that maintaining the fiction that he’s going to run is important for him to be able to keep the pipeline of donations from his rubes coming in.
He will try. And at least some judges will say that there’s no way they can stop him, and it has to be left up to the voters to figure out how to count to three.

Not a single broadcast station has had its licence pulled. I know, CBS, but even they still sometimes air news stories that make Trump look bad.
However, this is making me a little optimistic. It seems there are limits to how far the courts will let him go, and he doesn’t have the ability to completely ignore them. If he can’t silence WABC or KABC, how is he going to do something so much more obviously (to low info voters) outrageous as running and winning a third term?

Massive write-ins are a Democratic Party dream that isn’t happenning.
He’ll only dangle the possibility as a way to fleece the idiots for the funds needed to sue each state to put him on the ballot or amend the Constitution. Only a portion of the funds raised will be put to that purpose.
I’ll go with no. My reasoning is that the situation with Iran will get a lot worse, a lot sooner than expected. Trump will be blamed for screwing that up, and that’ll be that. No one will want him running again if things go to shit because of the Iran war.
