Trump's Cabinet of Curiosities

Will Trump and/or Staff say it never happened, or will they say it’s “business as usual”-it always happens when a new administration comes in?

Either or both. #alternate facts

The State Dept is an entrenched bureaucracy and has its own agenda. Nixon successfully bypassed it. We will soon see if Trump is as adapt

Talking Points Memo is reporting that they were fired. And while it is a common formality for senior staff to offer resignation letters, its is (unusual? unprecedented?) for them to be accepted.

Having your letter of resignation accepted means that you were fired? How is that?

We can simply assume that the White House will claim they were fired. That doesn’t mean they didn’t actually resign (in clear terms, rather than simply ‘offering the traditional letter of resignation’ as always happens when a new President comes in.)

Trump’s ego won’t let him admit that anyone would prefer unemployment to working for him. So his spokespeople will cling to the ‘we fired them’ story regardless of the facts.

The federal hiring freeze is gonna be a bitch, huh?

Jerry Falwell Jr. has been asked to head Trump’s Ejukashun Tasck Forse.
Fuck.

Yes, the Nixon administration was the very model of success! Trump should certainly follow that example!

As loathsome as Nixon was, he was infinitely smarter than Trump.

In the context of likely Trump picks, Tillerson is better than average as is Mattis. Hopefully the two of them will bring some degree of sanity to US foreign policy and put an end to the amateur hour we have seen with the bungled refugee ban and the spats with Mexico and Australia.

It looks like De Vos is in trouble with two GOP senators now against and only one more required to stop her. Will Trump make a big push to save her nomination ? I doubt he cares much one way or another. De Vos was probably a sop to the religious right but with the Gorsuch nomination that has probably become less urgent.

If her nomination goes down perhaps Trump will think out of the box and turn to someone like… Frederick Douglass.

If her nomination goes down, Trump will issue and executive order seating her anyway and then spend the next twenty-four hours on Twitter telling us how sad it is that the Democrats are mean.

Frederick Douglass of the “amazing job”? I swear, however did they keep a straight face? I never saw anything so ignorant… well, until he got up to speak at the prayer breakfast this morning, usually a somber occasion, which he turned into jokes and a brag fest about himself and his old TV show ratings …but first he did describe his “amazing” visit with the dead soldier’s family.

He has all the best words

I’m curious as to what the law on this is. What would stop Trump from appointing no one at all, for instance, taking the portfolio on himself, and simply finding DeVos an office in DC and telling the Department of Education “Do what this lady says?” Or appointing some Pence-like bootlicker as Secretary, and telling THAT person to just follow DeVos’s orders?

I honestly believe DeVos paid Trump for the appointment, so it’s worth money to him to let her be in charge.

Just to be fair to Trump, he probably wouldn’t take 24 hours to compose the tweet. That time frame for a single tweet is more in line with Team Clinton’s SOP.

The first part of your post contradicts the second. Nixon had a very successful foreign policy and felt he couldn’t pursue it solely through the State Department. Kissinger’s memoirs has a thorough telling of the process.

Here is a straight forward article explaining his administrations foreign policy

And here is a straightforward documentary explaining the current administration’s foreign policy.

Neil Gorsuch founded the Fascism Forever Club at his high school.

Maybe he had the hots for some Klan Kutie? I kinda think high school is too early for permanent record. I personally know some guys who did really dumb stuff then. Some.

And this has to do with RMN foreign policy just how?
