shrug the EPA and Department of Education have, for a long time, been favorite targets of conservatives for which parts of the federal government they’d like to eliminate. Nominating someone who can rein in some of the worst excesses of these agencies from within probably seems like a win for most conservatives.
I’d encourage you to give the Republican Platform 2016 a read to see what they feel the actual missions of those agencies is / ought to be.
After reading a bit about Representative Price, I expect to see a bill with a title of “Physician’s Protection Act of 2017” to protect physicians from government interference, unfair pricing and lawsuits.
So conservatives agree that abolishing mandatory school attendance and child labor laws would be a wonderful opportunity for kids? Or do they think it’s unfair for the nominee to be slandered with an article that she paid for published on her own foundation’s website?
You interested in buying waterfront property in Florida? Lol
This is a disaster of epic proportions and it’s unreal how can anyone with any fiber of decency (and frankly basic self preservation- caring about the environment ultimately means caring about your own self and loved ones) look at these appointees and feel anything but nausea…
Well said. It would be far better to hire high school dropouts who know absolutely nothing about the agency they’re about to command than to hire people who have devoted their lives in opposition to that agency. Consider Betsy DeVos, who is committed to the destruction of public schools, being put in charge of Education.
No. I have a hard time being comfortable in just about any body of water in Florida.
Wow, the drama. The fate of the entire planet hung in the balance, and my (2016 general election) vote, in little old Utah was the deciding factor in whether it would be destroyed or survive. Get real.
If you voted then you must have thought your vote mattered. If you get to say “Yay! We done good!!” if things go right with your candidate, then you have no right to say “My vote really didn’t matter” if the person you voted for fucks up royally.
I voted primarily because there were some local candidates and issues that were fairly competitive and I thought my vote might be important in those. As an example of this, Utah Republican State Representative LaVar Christensen won his seat by a mere 3 votes (I don’t live in his district).
I never had any expectation that my vote would affect climate change one way or the other, just like if I decide to idle my SUV for another 10 minutes just to spite Yersenia Pestis or not won’t affect the climate in any measurable way. I’ve known for years that my vote would not be the deciding factor in whether the Republican candidate gets Utah’s six electoral college votes or not. He’ll get them in 2020 too, whether I vote or not. It’s just plain silly to claim that my vote destroyed the planet.
I fully expect President Trump to make lots of mistakes over the next four years, and do quite a few things I don’t like. From my perspective, the current President did that too.
