Trump's first 10 days, how do you view him?

Interestingly enough, what it seems to be accomplishing is uniting people across borders to stand against Trump.

I sure hope Americans are this angry in 2018. Please please please stay angry. Take the House and Senate and dump Trump.

Yes. I forgot about the congressional elections.

Peace for our time? Third time’s the charm.

He is following through on things he said all along he would do, so no surprises. Actually, the surprise is someone in Washington actually doing what they said they were going to do.

The things he said he would do that he’s doing are being done in an extraordinarily incompetent and disorganized fashion. Other things, like “draining the swamp,” he’s doing the exact opposite, like turning over the cabinet to the Big Banks and Big Business.

His supporters said they were taking him seriously but not literally. They may be surprised he’s* literally* doing stupid shit, not just talking about it. Plus, as Colibri just posted, he’s not exactly doing everything people wanted him to do. (having Mexico pay for the wall, locking up Hillary, releasing his tax returns, draining the swamp–those were the only promises I recall)

President Carter, that unAmerican fascist.

April 7, 1980

“Fourth, the Secretary of Treasury [State] and the Attorney General will invalidate all visas issued to Iranian citizens for future entry into the United States, effective today. We will not reissue visas, nor will we issue new visas, except for compelling and proven humanitarian reasons or where the national interest of our own country requires. This directive will be interpreted very strictly.”

I think a more interesting poll would ask questions about how negatively we view him vs. how negatively we expected to view him.

(I expected to feel negatively about him, but didn’t expect him to take some of the actions he’s actually taken, and so feel more negative than I expected).

I seem to remember some unpleasantness involving American taken hostage and the Embassy invaded (act of war in case you didn’t know).
A rather different situation.

Indeed. That is nothing but apples and oranges.

There’s a new poll I made for dopers who view Trump as Very Negatively.

From Rick Sanchez, upthread: "The notion of banning everyone from certain countries from entering the USA, even if only to visit friends or family, is as unAmerican… "

Rick Sanchez didn’t qualify that statement, did he? Maybe you’d like to? It is unAmerican - unless…

Next time, if you’re not going to use the “quote” function, at least note which post you’re referencing.

Given your lack of interest in the numbers I gave in my post, I’m somewhat doubtful that you care much about the numbers in your polls, beyond perhaps discovering just how much you might have offended your enemies by electing Trump.

I am not your enemy. I’m a centrist. I want government not run by idiots, because that just doesn’t end well.

You should realize that you’re able to enjoy this because what the President does, generally, has exactly zero impact on your life. It’s likely that for every bone-headed thing which Trump does, not a single one will affect you or anyone you know. It will likewise probably not do much against most liberals, beyond harming their sensibilities. But that also means that every slight you have felt from the Obama or Bill Clinton presidencies were, just as equally, nothing more than harming your sensibilities. Can you think of a single thing?

And the end result of that is harm to people around the world. The people of the Ukraine are going to be swallowed by a kleptocratic oligarchy. People trying to flee a bad situation are going to be turned back towards the place they are trying to escape. What did these people do to you? Have you ever been punched by a Ukrainian or a Syrian? They’re not liberals. They’re the people of other nations, who have no affect on our country.

I always found it stupid, as a kid, the idea of not eating to piss off your parents. Why starve yourself? What sort of idiot move is that? If you want to piss off your parents, there are plenty of ways to do it, and the real way to do it is in such a way as that you get away with it without any repercussions and yet they still know you’re the one who did it. Anything else is, clearly, stupid. And if you come up with some scheme which really doesn’t affect you nor your parents, but does harm a bunch of disinterested bystanders, that’s purely psychopathy. There’s no benefit achieved from it.

First off, Sage Rat, I didn’t elect Trump, as I said previously in one of my posts (before the election on early voting), I voted straight Democrat. In fact the last time I voted republican was during the republican nomination for Illinois Governor in 2014, since then (and 2012 when I was old enough to vote- born September 25th 1994, would turn 18 on 2012 in time for the election (and early voting)), it’s been entirely blue. But I believed who was likely to win and welcomed the peaceful transfer of power. I welcome Trump’s policies for analysis. I would have done the same for Clinton, Stein or Johnson if elected.

If I have any enemies now, I’d love to know them and chat with why I’m their enemy. (Like, what did I do wrong in the first place?) My polls are designed not to be biased (hence why you see on this poll two positive, one neutral, two negative options). In case of lop-sided results, I’d love to get in deeper as to how bad or how well they think of the results, and analyze the numbers and determine the results.

And to be honest, I think your post is a bit incoherent. Nothing didn’t appear correct towards me (if towards me).

I endorse this.

I was amused by The Donald initially (never expecting him to get Repub nomination) then pissed-off by his campaigning tactics (never expecting him to be elected), then ASTONISHED on election night, truly gobsmacked and in a state of shock really!

But I assumed all would settle down a bit once the electioneering circus was over.

The circus hasn’t even really begun yet, and I am now seriously concerned that the ‘world as we know it’ is about to get tipped on its arse…badly.

Much better than I expected. We have a politician doing what he was elected and said he would do.

It’s like we have Godzilla in the white house. I’m loving it! I would like to see him kick the Saudi’s out and jeopardize the petrodollar if possible, since they are wahhabists(the even nastier than normal wing of Islam) and funding mosques, which are terrorist recruitment/indoctrination centers.

Screw the MSM, Trump is taking no prisoners, and doing what’s right. MAGA

Hmm…let’s see…on day one he overturns mortgage aid for strapped buyers and orders the repeal of the ACA…on day four withdraws the US from the TPP…on day five he fast-tracks infrastructure projects at the cost of environmental review (see the Keystone Project among others)…on day six he outlaws sanctuary cities (good luck with that, btw) and institutes an ignorant and wrongheaded blanket immigration ban…not to mention the infamous Wall that will end up being paid out of the pockets of the American consumer, one way or the other…

How can you possibly say it doesn’t affect any of us? And that’s not even getting into the damage he’s doing to the democratic system, claiming ludicrous numbers of fraudulent votes, having his emissaries working to discredit the media at every opportunity, the bogus lies about crowd size (I really wonder how much penis envy he really has…). And this is just week one!

They’re getting it too, but don’t delude yourself that you’re somehow insulated from Trump’s craziness because you’re American.

You have a really weird conception of right and wrong.

I’m going to hold you to that when President Bannon finishes tearing apart the soul of your country. And who is going to suffer the most? The very people that voted in President Bannon. When the moment comes when you realize you’ve been conned and betrayed, well, I know you won’t post about it, but we’ll all know because there will be sudden silence from your ilk.
