Trump's Republican primary campaign

Why are you so sure?

More importantly, do you have any evidence that he had more assistance with it than the other candidates have had with their prepared remarks?

They only need help writing them, he needs help reading them.

I have only skimmed the thread. Are any Dopers rooting for Trump to be the next POTUS?

@Hank Beecher, of all the major candidates that have or had their “hat in the ring,” whom would you most like to see be inaugurated next January?

I think we’re already beginning to see some very real backlash against the #nevertrump movement. A few weeks ago, after Trump’s disastrous 2-3 week stretch that included civil unrest at his rallies, the arrest of his campaign manager, vicious and unfounded attacks against Cruz’s wife, and atrocious comments about women and abortion…Donald Trump was tanking. His lead in California was down to about 6 points, which was easily within Ted Cruz’s striking distance.

The latest poll from California, however, reveals that Trump may be regaining his footing, widening his lead back to 18 points. In fact he has a near majority in the polling there, which could help him come extremely close to winning the required delegate count outright.

Cruz has won a lot of delegates recently, but I think there’s a growing perception that the republican party is stealing an election from the voters, and that Ted Cruz is the recipient of the stolen goods. The voters were already feeling pissed off and disenfranchised by the republican establishment. Talking up a brokered convention before it happens might well backfire.

Yeah, Trump is an imbecile who can barely communicate.

Sarcasm noted. “Og Smash!” is also an undeniable form of communication.

The constant repetition is also communicative, the tedium is the message.

I dunno, same thing as all the non-assholes named “Trump,” there’s gotta be some.

As much as I abhor political dynasty and consider it to be antithetical to Americanism, as someone who is strongly pro-choice, in favor of evidence decision making, and not a Commie, Clinton is the only acceptable option.

Here is how I rank the candidates: Clinton>Trump>Rand Paul>Rubio/Jeb/Mitt/Kasich/Ryan>Bernie>Cruz

I do think that the Dem side needs to be broken down and thrown into the compost heap as much as the GOP, so there will be at least some positive outcome should Trump’s steamroller keep it’s momentum going long enough to flatten Clinton.

If that happens, the Democratic Party might well re-form with what you would consider the “Commie” (which it ain’t) wing in charge.

It might very well self-marginalize by becoming fringe like that, we don’t know. And we don’t know if it would be a good thing, either. That depends on what newly sprouted entity would be empowered by the Dem’s lurch to the far-left. It could be the right, or it could be the middle. Or maybe left, right, and middle, as we now know it, won’t survive the fire.

Ranchers always like seeing the fields burn in the spring to make way for the new growth, even though there is no certainty what will grow back in it’s place or how it will fare.

Scott Adams: The Trump Chess Board

Adams has been a delusional weirdo for quite a while.

So was Tesla. He was also amazingly prescient.

Adamshas been predicting a Trump primary and general election victory since August, when Nate Silver was giving him a 2% chance at getting the GOP nomination.

If Trump wins the general, I’ll call him prescient. If he doesn’t, then Adams will continue to be a delusional weirdo.

And a sock puppet artist.

It has to be noted that for someone that claims to understand that Hillary is better than Trump the items Hank Beecher is bringing only makes one go :dubious:

In any case, even with the risks to my family as we will become more involved (Hispanic in the land of Arpaio), I wished that Trump would be the Republican nominee months ago as I noted that he was going to be the weakest candidate.

What many like Adams do forget is that the same pollsters that early reported that Trump was going to squash the other Republicans also report that Hillary will squash Trump in the general election.

But, a Democratic Party re-formed around the progressive wing would not be fringe and would not be marginal, it would be nearer to mainstream than the GOP is now.

Scott Adams is a sock puppet artist? Literally, like he does things with sock puppets, or in the sense of having multiple alts on a messageboard?

He created a sock identity to cheer on his arguments. He admitted to it and gave a very feeble defense / apology. On my phone, so no link, but easily found on Google.

Damn Donald Trump has the longest thread of any candidate in this race.
