Trump's Shutdown

I hope it affects the farm subsidies (hillbilly welfare) the Trumpies in Trumpland like so much.

Yes. Bannon only wanted to burn it all down. With Trump’s deliberate help, Putin is actually DOING it.

Disrrupt and dismantle the government of Putin’s biggest rival. And it’s happening right out in the open.

You need to remember, to him, compromising and coming together are signs of weakness - to be exploited.

The only thing he understands - and this goes back to his days in NY - is “You fuck with me I cut your fucking balls off”. That he understands. But then you better be willing to follow through and he better know you WILL.

That’s funny.

Because NO rules would men the rest of us can kill them and take all their stuff.

It does due to workers who process payments being furloughed, though I object to your terminology.

We all rely on farmers for food and it is not an easy life. If Agent Orange hadn’t interfered in soybean sales with his bullshit tariffs, a lot of those farmers would be selling the crops they have worked their asses off to grow instead of taking our tax money in subsidies. Now they are doubly screwed.

They should include all the drugs seized by the Coast Guard…

Your post is left-wing hyperbole. There is nothing in the Constitution that requires Congress to pass a bill if they don’t want to pass it.

Furthermore, each house is the exclusive judge of its own procedures; if the Senate is satisfied with McConnell as leader, that too is perfectly fine and legal.

Nor is McConnell “preventing the Legislative Branch of government from doing their job.” On the contrary, he is doing his job. He is doing EXACTLY what the Founders wanted the Senate to do; they knew very well that House and Senate would sometimes be at odds with each other–that is precisely the reason for splitting the Legislative Branch in half to begin with.

It is perpetually amazing to me how liberals are seemingly genetically-engineered to regard the role of government as “needing to do something.” In reality, a large part of government’s PROPER role is to exercise discretion as to when to act and when to not act. There are many times and situations when not acting is what government is supposed to do.

Like building a wall, or separating toddlers from their families? :dubious:

Is not paying government employees one of those times? I think not.

So FLyer, how is deciding not to act on reopening the government a good thing? You didn’t address that. All you did was bring out another liberal complaint chestnut.

And if there were ever a time not to act, it would be when the POTUS is a Russian asset, forcing the closure of our government over a farce his own party doesn’t fully support, while putting the torch to our foreign markets via tariffs and undermining our long-term alliances, while breaking all norms of not just politesse and politics, but also logic, reason, and the laws he is ostensibly sworn to protect. Also, trillion dollar deficits at the peak of a business cycle.

They Did find time to lift sanctions on a Russian oligarch’s companies, though. Discretion.

My God, man, pull your head out of the sand! It’s perpetually amazing to me how some conservatives are seemingly genetically engineered to regard any event beyond the end of their own noses as, well… as NOT happening at all. Mitch McConnell is in hiding and is not doing his job. Take off the Republican blinders, Bud, and look around at what’s going on.

I’m not particularly surprised that treasonous scum such as yourself would be defending a policy of one party refusing to ever vote on anything ever again, as long as it ensures one-party rule.

Democracy? I guess you figure that’s for losers.

Shhhhh. It’s okay if people forget that part.

Genetically engineered?
We care about people. We want federal employees to be paid so they can provide services for citizens who pay taxes.

Ah, yes. The thread wouldn’t be complete without some liberal frothing at the mouth because somebody refused to prostrate himself to the god of “Democracy.”

Democracy is nothing more than mob rule covered with a veneer of civilization.

Or, as somebody else so aptly put it, “Democracy is two wolves and one sheep voting on what to have for dinner.”

Yaaaaaaaawn

You are invited to clearly state preferred alternative, sir, if you please.

It hurts people, and for right wingers that is the one and only thing they care about. Hurting as many people as possible, as often as possible, as much as possible.

:smack: D’Oh!

Take two:

You are invited to clearly state your preferred alternative, sir, if you please.
