Trump's upcoming turnaround

WTF is the “alt-left?”

Something Fox News made up last week.

Something like “YOU’RE a puppet.”

Contrary to popular belief, Trump hasn’t actually shown any ability to defy political gravity. When he says and does stupid stuff, his approval rating drops. Granted, it tends to recover again as the news cycle moves on and the latest stupidity slips out of the spotlight, but 1) this happens with other politicians too; and 2) the overall trend lines show slowly-rising disapproval and slowly-dropping approval, despite these fluctuations. The upswing people are panicking about now still puts him under 40% approval; a few months ago, he was in the over-40% range most of the time.

There have not been a lot of downballot races since Trump took office (we will know more in November, when Virginia and New Jersey elect a governor and state legislature, and there are a whole slew of special elections scheduled in other states), but so far, he seems to be having precisely the effect an unpopular incumbent usually has on those races.

Just wanted to clarify something, Ann:

Goldman Sachs is a Jewish firm in history and founding - as the founders could not get a place in NYC’s WASP financial firms because they were Jewish, they started their own firm.

So Goldman Sachs isn’t concerned because they know Democrats… they are worried because they are Jewish. They, along with Kuhn Loeb, Lehman Bros and others, they formed a “separate” banking system inside the WASP financial structure, started calling themselves “Our Crowd”, and slowly rose to the top-tier of American finance.

Does this really look like a party (administration) which has a “strategy” to you?

People continue to pen deeply puzzling things like the above here (and by people I don’t necessarily mean the righties on this board), and I honestly don’t grasp why, given all of the events of the past 8 months. RCP has the generic 2018 House poll as +9 Dems, and even with gerrymandering that is definitely in the GOP’s danger zone.

Oh, absolutely. I meant to add that in but I missed it somehow or else I though t it was obvious and didn’t need to be said. But it gets to the heart of my theory which is that the “Unite The Right” organizers went full anti-Semite in order to send Trump a message and sow these divisions.

Because I know these guys. Not really on a “personal friend” level, but the NYC Goldman / hedge fund / capital management crowd is the core of my business clientele.
Ross, Mnuchin, Icahn, Cohn - I’ve worked for all of them and/ or their families.

And I’m pretty sure they’re all in touch with each other this weekend and that if one quits, they’ll all follow. I’m sure in part they want to stick it out because they see tremendous financial opportunities and that’s what these guys are all about. But I don’t think they have much wiggle room left.

I agree. The Trump administration won’t straighten itself out because its central problem is Trump himself.

The real issue, as I see it, is Congress. The Republicans in Congress are watching which way the wind is blowing. If they decide that being associated with a Trump presidency is putting their own political careers at risk, they’ll act.

This claim (at least in any sense that is meaningful) has already been roundly debunked in the thread you started specifically on this topic. It doesn’t become any more true by continued repetition.

I may add that since a lot of industrialists are doing things counter to what Trump wants, that the best it can be said about Trump is that he has not upset the economics apple cart too much.

It’s not enough that the Republicans stole a Supreme Court appointment from Pres. Obama…They now want gold stars for doing it?

Yeah…It is kind of amazing how to the Trumpettes, reversing the course of private sector jobs from hemorrhaging 3/4 million per month to gaining a couple hundred thousand a month is considered very insufficient, but keeping that job growth about the same at a couple hundred thousand a month for six months is considered a work of genius.

Look at my post history pre election - very few members have postings so predictive of the outcome of the election as me IIRC. If you doubt what I am saying, I can link to some of my posts.

Thank you for not calling me a rightie BTW. I’m more of a dispassionate observer of politics, it’s entertaining to me like Game of Thrones.

I know it sounds crazy. but I decided to go out on a limb a little bit.

Jeez, jshore, way to undercut the entire paid-trolldom/social-media-boiler-room industry. Continued repetition of lies is all they’ve got!

The only Chump turnaround there’s going to be is when he turns around, bends over and says, “Thank you, sir, can I have some more?”

Huh. I would have thought the America-hating fuckstick had come up with that one himself.

I’ll assume this a general comment about trolldom and not directed at specific posters here. Please do not appear to accuse others of trolling.

[/moderating]

I would suggest the addition of fire ants and honey. I think in the interest of all concerned though we are honor bound to at least try it out (perhaps in 3 independent double blind tests over the course of several weeks each, testing various wind speeds and flag pole thicknesses as well as different strains of fire ants, perhaps with one genetically modified with even more sting).

If it’s just about JABS then why not pay millions of Americans to scratch their asses?

Same net benefit, but you haven’t additionally wasted thousands of tons of concrete, steel and asphalt.
