“Good fan” “bad fan” “true fan.” Seriously, are you 15 or something? Some people don’t mind spoilers - some people do. The person put a spoiler in a thread and a mod then labeled it “Season Spoiler.” How that could be misinterpreted to mean anything other than SPOILERS REGARDING THE ENTIRE SEASON, I can’t imagine.
I have no dog in this fight as I don’t watch the show in question, but I’ve had things spoiled for me and didn’t care for it. Having said that, I can’t imagine I would go off on a shrill tirade like the one you’ve sustained here. Seriously, for the first time in my life I think I’m witnessing an honest-to-goodness conniption fit. It seems like you have yourself so worked up into a lather, that you aren’t even considering any point of view but your own.

Right before the last Harry Potter book came out, I saw a clip on YouTube of a guy who worked for Borders who gave spoilers. He was in the storeroom with cases of the books. He held up a book & showed the camera the ISBN and title. He then went on to give “spoilers” about who lived and died, etc. Most of them were wrong.
At the time I saw it, I hadn’t even read the first book. After that, I read them all. Even though I’d heard real spoilers, it didn’t diminish the quality of the books for me at all. True, that’s just MY opinion… I’m just saying that sometimes it doesn’t ruin it as some people have expressed that they can’t understand.
Then again, ask the millions and millions of people who saw The Passion of the Christ and still enjoyed it. Talk about your spoilers!
I didn’t bring up those terms. I do think it’s wrong to post spoilers and to post footage not yet aired. I do think that is disrespectful of the work. But I do hope you’ll go back and read the thread to see who started that particular debate. Wasn’t me.
The reason for my hissy fit, if you’ve been reading along, is that the spoiler was e-mailed to me. I couldn’t avoid it. Then, it was my fault somehow because of the thread title “open spoilers.” Only it wasn’t. Can’t fucking win nohow.

A lot of people have spilled a lot of bile in this thread. Focus on me when actually, all I did was go off in a Pit thread designed to go off on this specific topic. I didn’t do anything wrong in the CS thread about it. I didn’t get a warning. I didn’t ruin the show for anyone. I got angry and ranted in a Pit thread. Completely beyond the pale, definitely. It was an unboxed spoiler in an episode-specific thread. At least that’s the way it started, before Dex fixed it. The spoiler was just a few words. Now if those few words had been part of a longer post – maybe in the midst of some discussion of the episode named in the thread title – it might have been possible to avoid it. But it wasn’t. And it was a huge spoiler, believe me.
But I don’t think anybody’s mad at Fever anymore. Newbies mess up. Shit happens. We’re way past that and into a pretty interesting discussion about all the different ways people like to look at TV and movies.
This is the equivalent of “She started it!”

I get (oh boy do I get) that you don’t like spoilers. You seem unable to grasp that there are some people who don’t share your view. That doesn’t make your view right or wrong, nor does it make their view right or wrong.

It is. I know, it’s been said before in this thread, that no one should care this much about a show, that it means you have no life, just get over it, who cares? The implication is, it’s not justifiable to be really pisssed off about something like this.
But you know, my husband and I just rewatched the entire show (4 seasons) from the beginning, in preparation for this final season. I’ve been watching nothing but The Wire since the writer’s strike b/c there’s nothing else on. And the spoiler was re: my favorite character on TV, ever (30+ years of watching TV speaking, there). I had no choice about reading the spoiler, so all the shrieking and moaning and gnashing of teeth here is for naught. Too late. It’s really a fucked up spoiler, trust me.
So yeah, it’s a seriously hot topic for me. I’m upset about it, and I can’t discuss it with anyone else I know who watches the show IRL because even saying to them, “I read this horrible spoiler about The Wire” tells them that there’s a horrible upcoming event in the show, which would be hypocritical of me. So I vented here, apparently excessively, in your mind. I’m a shrill bitch who is overreacting. What can I do? How aggravated I seem in this thread is how aggravated I am about it, really. And the reaction here has been largely dismissive, sometimes even mocking and scornful.
I don’t expect your sympathy over this. I don’t expect to change whatever opinion you’ve formed of me based on this. But I am pretty disgusted with the boards due to receiving that spoiler, and then, the shitty reactions to people’s justifiable outrage over it. Yeah, it’s just a TV show. I’m not going to burn down anyone’s house over it. In fact, I’m not going to do a damn thing about it but bitch here, at great length and with too much passion. And to go back to the OP: Trunk, you were a jerk. Either a new person on the boards messed up, or a troll posted a spoiler that may or may not be true. Regardless, the phrase “two wrongs don’t make a right” comes to mind.
Obviously, you don’t. Have anything better to do than be incredibly nasty, that is. At great length.
